When I took up the cross, I recognized it's meaning. The cross is something that you bear, and ultimately, that you die on.

Historian Uncovered the Memorial Day history.

The first Memorial Day, organized by Black residents of Charleston, South Carolina, was nearly erased from history. In 1865, a group of Black Charlestonians exhumed a mass, unmarked grave filled with the bodies of Union soldiers, and then gave them proper burials.

In Honor of All who have given their All for Freedom.

The Evil of Humans,

“In our struggle for justice, let your oppressor know that you are not attempting to defeat or humiliate him, or even to pay him back for injustices that he has heaped upon you. Let him know that you are merely seeking justice for him as well as yourself.”

Honestly, I can only imagine how the folks in the civil rights era felted, being involved in the Pikes Peak Southern Christian Leadership Conference, I’m only getting a small piece of what it must have been like.

The community of Colorado Springs, like most in this country celebrated the birth of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in January and Black History in the month of February, after the celebrations, its back to business as usual.

Several months ago, the Pikes Peak Southern Christian Leadership Conference received a complaint of harassment, hostile work environment and racial discrimination from a black female employee of the Colorado Springs Utilities.

After receiving this complaint, this organization contacted the leadership at all levels of City Government and Colorado Springs Utilities, the allegations made by the employee was investigated and found to be sustain but her white supervisor was allowed to return to his position and again place back in his supervisory position over her. She chose to leave her position.

Last week, I read an article concerning Colorado Springs Utilities, detailing thirteen Investigations of high employee turnover. The article stated employees of Colorado Springs Utilities reporting a culture of fear and a hostile work environment. I want to remind you, when this organization reported the concerns of the black employee to officials of Colorado Springs government including City Council, the complaint fell on deaf ears, it appears to only become newsworthy when addressed through the white employees.

The Pikes Peak Southern Christian Leadership Conference is currently assisting parents in Harrison School District 2 who’s alleging their children are in constant racial threats and intimidations by school staff.

A Widefield School District 3 instructor is under investigation after using racial slurs while in class. The school district reported a Navy JROTC instructor used the word “Ni**er” in multiple classes. The district says this instructor used the word “Ni**er” as part of a classroom discussion and was not directed or in reference to a specific person. Wow!

So, it’s of no surprise, the Pikes Peak Southern Christian Leadership Conference received numerous complaints from parents within Harrison School District 2, these parents alleged their children are under constant attack from teachers and staff they believe to be racist. They reported, black students are being targeted by white students calling them “niggers” they also alleged a white 4th Grader approached a Black 4th Grader, telling her she should attend an all-Black school instead of this school. I believe a child is not born a racist, but I am aware its taught in the home.

The parents said the school administrators and school district are deliberately failing to address their concerns to make them remove their children from this school.

The Pikes Peak Southern Christian Leadership Conference is committed to ensuring all citizens are treated with dignity, respect and will always intervene when there appears to be a violation of Human and Civil Rights.

I know, it seems, it a long time coming but changes will come, sometimes I’m just sick and tired of being sick and tired!

If you’re not willing to get in and stay involved, Then Stop Being Angry about the unfair treatment in your community, if you are not around the table expressing your rights, then you’re the meal on the table!

Are you at the Table?

"People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don't know each other; they don't know each other because they have not communicated with each other."

Today, I will find the grace to let go of resentments of others
and self-condemnation over past mistakes.

Today, I will not try to change, or improve, anybody but me.

Today, I will act toward others as though this will be my last day on earth.

On this past January 17, 2022, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday marked the 27th anniversary of the National Day of Service. This date was established to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King, and to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Reverend Dr. King advocated for nonviolent resistance to overcome injustice as a means of lifting racial oppression. He created change with organized sit-ins, marches, and peaceful demonstrations that highlighted issues of inequality.

Dr. King popularized the notion of his Beloved Community with economic and social justice as the twin pillars. These twin pillars are also necessary for a healthy society. As much as Dr. King has become an American champion and even a legend, we should also recall the international scope of his vision, how Dr. King’s notion of “the beloved community” grew to encompass all the people of the world.

Dr. King’s struggles were never just about Black and White. In keeping with Dr. King’s legacy and vision, the Pikes Peak Southern Christian Leadership Conference (PPSCLC) has worked with all aspect of this community since its creation seven (7) years ago.

The chapter continue to render it voice and influence in matters of concerns:

• Establishing a relationship with City and County Government to address fair hiring and promotion of all people under their supervision

• Being a strong voice and advocacy for the fair treatment of citizens currently housed in Colorado Springs Housing Authority property and for those seeking affordable housing in the Pikes Peak Region

• This chapter has its thumb on the pulse of Colorado Springs Utilities, ensuring they are doing all within their power in addressing the concerns of a Black Female Employee who was threating by her supervisor, to have a cross burned on her porch if she was not a Trump supporter.

• The chapter currently is taken on the United States Army at Fort Carson, Colorado, addressing the concerns of a Black female soldier who was forced out of military service after being target by her Chain of Command after reporting their failure to resolve her concerns when she continues being call a "Ni**er" by a Hispanic soldier.

This organization is very concerns about all issues I’ve addressed. We are more deeply concerned about the hateful behavior of all our elected official. In a quote from Dr. King, “We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”

Many has attempted to bring Dr. King into their conversation of hate and separation. But despite it all we as a people must continue the vision of the world according to Dr. King. On September 5, 1960, while address the DePauw University campus in Greencastle, Ind., he stated, “Black supremacy is as dangerous as white supremacy, and God is not interested merely in the freedom of black men and brown men and yellow men.

But God is interested in the freedom of the whole human race and the creation of a society where all men will live together as brother, and all men will respect the dignity and the worth of all human personality.

As a society of the world, we must find that common ground that will allow us to exist together with Human and Christian love!

Or we will perish as fools!
