Light is one of the hardest factors to control in a garden, but it has a major impact on what you can successfully grow. Some crops thrive in partial shade, while others need full sun to produce well.
Even sun-loving plants can struggle with excessive heat and intensity, leading to issues like reduced fruit production or stress. Simple adjustments, like using shade cloth, can help create better conditions for your plants.
Matching your crops to the light you have, (or adjusting where possible) can significantly improve your harvest.
And when your garden produces more than expected, or perhaps you’ve planted a row with the intention of sharing – your fresh produce is welcome and greatly appreciated through the Fresh Food Connect app, where it will be distributed through your local hunger relief organization.
