Garden of the Gods Rotary Club service club to improve ourselves, community and world.

Rotary Club of the Garden of the Gods, the second oldest Rotary Club in Colorado Springs, was founded by Westside and Manitou Springs businessmen on June 26, 1947. It was first known as the Rotary Club of West Colorado Springs-Manitou Springs. The charter president was William Henderson, who went on to help found the Pikes Peak National Bank and become mayor of Colorado Springs. The club, renamed Rotary Club of the Garden of the Gods in 1966, has a long record of community service, being instrumental in many Westside activities. Early projects involved sponsoring the Westside Scout Troop and Westside Hockey Club. The club assisted the Forestry Service during Christmas tree cutting, planted green ash trees to provide shade in Old Colorado City and was the original organization to plant more than 3,000 trees on the old quarry scar in the foothills. In 1984, the club established the Champions Program that has evolved into an area-wide, yearly Rotary event honoring nearly 400 scholar athletes from El Paso and Teller counties. Over the years, Rotary Club of the Garden of the Gods has continued its commitment to the local community and expanded its involvement in international programs.

REMINDER Our club has a table at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s tomorrow, Saturday 25 September 2026.

If you haven’t registered yet, you can register tomorrow starting at 8am. You’ll get better parking arriving early. I’ll be there about 9am.

- “Uniform” : if you have it wear Rotary shirt, pin or other bling. Otherwise wear blue or purple shirt.
- BRING sunscreen, hat, water, walking shoes, cell phone, smiles.
- Location:
Prospect Lake at Memorial Park
280 South Union Blvd, Col Spr 80909
- Times:
Registration opens at 8am.
Please check in before walk starts. Get your bling bag.
Walk starts at 10am. Usually done 11-12 depending on how much you interact with everyone.
- What:
1 mile around Prospect Lake. Music, dancing and vendors on the walk and in the tents.

We learned about Colorado Springs Utilities improvements, what’s coming up on the horizon and impact of data centers from former city council member Tom Strand. Thank you Sir.

We also issued our our major fundraiser Football FunCrazr Sweepstakes tickets. Star Achievers received 30 and 20 packs, while the rest of us are staring off with a pack of 10.

Thank you Willie for update on schools and a RI Foundation dinner coming up. Thank you Roseann for update on December’s winter party. Lorraine - great job on PPARE and Osborne Trust update. Martha - I’ll bring the veggie tray Oct 23 to your house to stamp books “Rotary” and put in student’s sticker for their name. Please RSVP to Martha if you’re coming to help. I think I heard pizza for the teens - Thanks Mr Nick Crutcher.
