On Monday, my friends Carletta and Luke stood and served our neighbors. 16 services were provided. When a shoulder injury takes you down, you get to do other things for the neighbors. I stood and listened (really listened) to the stories. What I see and hear is beauty in our own brokenness and how we ALL can walk beside each other with kindness and compassion. That’s what our community is all about!

Today we pause to honor the men and women who gave everything in service to this country. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, of gratitude, and of humility for the sacrifices made so that we could live freely.

At Broken Crayons Beauty, service is at the heart of everything we do. Our founder, Staci, knows firsthand what it means to show up for others, a value instilled through her time serving in the military. That spirit of service is woven into every haircut, every Monday, every life we get to touch.

To every Gold Star family, to every person who has lost someone in uniform, we see you today. Thank you for your sacrifice. We will never take it for granted.
