Hot pavement can burn and blister a dog's paws in seconds, and many of our unhoused neighbors have a loyal companion right by their side through it all.

One neighbor asked if we could help find dog shoes to protect his best friend on those long summer walks. So we are asking too.

We are looking for a pair of dog booties in a medium to large size, new or gently used. If you can help, send us a message and we will set up a pick up or drop off.

Here is a number that should stop us all in our tracks.

In 2025, El Paso County had the fastest growing homeless population in the entire state of Colorado, with 7,078 of our neighbors experiencing homelessness at some point last year. That is a 4.3% jump from the year before.

These are not strangers. They are members of our community. And they deserve the same dignity, care, and respect as anyone else.
That is why Broken Crayons Beauty keeps showing up, every Monday, every last Sunday, every event we can get to. Because the need is real and it is right here at home.

Today, we met with an Air Force friend and collected donations for Because We Chose To. She donated lots of clothes for our neighbors in need. Thank you Jessica Miller for thinking about them and wanting them to have something you no longer need. YOU are making a difference!

What a week! First the Camp Connections Mixer and now THIS Sunday we will be at Antler's Park.

We are joining our friends at Because We Choose To for our monthly last Sunday event, bringing free haircuts while they provide clothing and basic necessities to unhoused individuals in our community.

Come find us at Antler's Park this Sunday. Bring a friend. Bring some good energy. Let us show our neighbors what this community is made of. 🧡

Yesterday we did 24 services as we stood in 94 degrees with our neighbors and let them feel peace and comfort while we gave them a little bit of something that most people will take as a luxury or for granted at times.
We had people coming
“to get cleaned up for the job they are starting”
“the messed up cut they let one of their friends do”
“the interview they are preparing for” “hasn’t had one in a long time”
“his razor was stolen when they took his backpack”.
So many different stories, and they all said thank you for coming today ❤️
Thank you Dylan Synister, Taylor Marquise Bowers, and Chase for being there today! You all are amazing and our neighbors look absolutely amazing because YOU all did the work behind the stools in the parking lot today! ❤️
