Abuse can be emotional, financial, psychological, or digital—just as harmful as physical violence. Emotional abuse chips away at self-worth, financial abuse limits freedom, psychological abuse controls through fear, and digital abuse removes safe spaces.

Nearly half of survivors report financial abuse, and many say emotional or psychological abuse leaves deeper, lasting scars than physical harm.

Change doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistent awareness, education, and community support, we can create a safer future where survivors are believed, families are protected, and cycles of abuse are broken for good.

Financial abuse happens when a partner limits your access to money, racks up debt in your name, or forces you to depend on them for every expense.

For many survivors, this kind of control makes it incredibly hard to leave, even when they want to. Imagine trying to walk away with no savings, no credit, or debt you never agreed to. That’s the reality so many people face.

CS DV Task Force is committed to shining a light on hidden forms of abuse, like financial control, that often go unnoticed but deeply impact survivors. With your support and donations, we can continue providing resources, raising awareness, and helping families break free from the cycle of abuse.

IPV goes beyond physical injuries.....

It can cause long-term emotional, psychological, and financial harm. According to the CDC, about 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 7 men report experiencing IPV in their lifetime, with many cases involving severe physical violence, stalking, or sexual assault.

The effects ripple outward, impacting children, families, and communities. Beyond the personal toll, IPV places a significant strain on healthcare systems, law enforcement, and workplaces. Recognizing IPV as a public health issue underscores the urgent need for prevention, support, and accessible resources for survivors.

That's why the CSDV Task Force is here to raise awareness, connect survivors to support, and hold offenders accountable. But true change happens when our community comes together—and that includes you.

It's true that most victims of intimate partner violence are women but men can be victims too. Research shows that 1 in 7 men will experience severe physical violence from a partner in their lifetime. Many don’t speak up because of stigma, shame, or fear of not being believed.

Abuse does not discriminate. No matter your gender, your pain is real and your story matters. If you know someone who may be silently suffering, reach out. A simple conversation could open the door to safety and healing.

At Colorado Springs DV Task Force, we’re committed to providing free resources, education, and support to those impacted by domestic violence and with your help, we can continue making that impact every day.

While we can't change the past, we can choose how we respond to it. Survivors may carry deep wounds, and offenders may carry regret but healing begins with truth, accountability, and change.

Whether in healing from abuse, repairing relationships, or growing as individuals, accountability and awareness are the first steps to change.

We can’t undo harm—but we can break the cycle.
