Texas Dove Round Up

For the first time in over 80 years, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has approved a 90-day dove season in Texas for the 2016-2017 season, which would provide Texas dove hunters with an additional 20 days of dove hunting this fall.

Thirty minutes before Sun rise
Shotgun plugged to hold three
May the dove fly low,
And the beer is cold
shoot your legal bag limit
And call it quits
Don't pull the heads on the ringnecks
Or the game warden will have to count it
Come back to camp to clean your birds
And tell everyone the stories of the doubles
Be safe, have fun and share your experience with your daughter or son!

Game warden always passes by weeks before the hunt, like he just did. I wave and smile. Of all the law enforcement in Texas, game wardens are my favorite. They love to hunt, they'll eat a bit of your camp food, they shoot the bull with you and then let you continue hunt....God bless the Texas Game Wardens!
