We accept donations of eyeglasses and hearing aids through our members and many location throughout Colonial Heights. There are 46,000 Lions Clubs with 1.35 million members worldwide, which makes us the world’s largest service organization. Our mission is to help the blind and visually impaired in our community. We collect unwanted/used eyeglasses placed in donation boxes found throughout Colonial
Heights. (Sam’s Club, CH Library, CH Health Department, CH Senior Center, etc.) Our primary goal is to provide eye exams and eyeglasses to residents of Colonial Heights and Southern Chesterfield who cannot afford them. Referrals are received through the Chesterfield/
Colonial Heights Social Services (804) 748-1100 or through school nurses. Additionally, we contribute to the blind and visually impaired who are in need of special equipment, such as adaptive computers and software, video magnifiers and auditory software. This specialized equipment aids these individuals in becoming more independent. Lions Clubs also assist the hearing impaired through recycling hearing aids. For hearing aid assistance, contact the Lions Club Helpline at (804) 756-0288. Colonial Heights Lions Club often works in conjunction with other area Lions Clubs to provide assistance for sight related causes and the blind. One hundred percent of the funds provided to our club through fund raising and donations go to assist persons in need.
