A Regular Wednesday at Colonial Heights Food Pantry đź’š

It takes a village! Every Wednesday, we are reminded just how incredible our village truly is.

Today, our dedicated volunteers rolled up their sleeves and helped sort through over 5,000 pounds of fresh produce, organize meats, pack food boxes, inspect eggs, and prepare nutritious food for our neighbors in need. From lifting heavy crates to carefully sorting and packing items with care, every task plays a vital role in ensuring families in our community have access to fresh, healthy food.

These photos capture just a small glimpse of the hard work, teamwork, and heart that go into making our weekly distributions possible.

The CHFP is so grateful to have monthly financial support from Incredible HVAC, because regular supporters assure that we can always be ready for our community. Here's the impact this recent donation from Incredible of $350 makes: a return of 3.5 meals for every dollar donated yields 1225 meals, which can serve 3 families of 4 (12 people needing three meals a day each) for 34 days! Thanks Incredible for your help - we can't do it without you!

Today we want to recognize and thank some of the incredible volunteers who help make our food distribution possible every single week.

Behind every distribution day is a team willing to show up, work hard, and serve with compassion. From sorting donations, organizing produce, and tossing out fruits and vegetables that are no longer good, to making sure every item is ready for the families we serve! Their dedication does not go unnoticed.

It takes many helping hands to keep things running smoothly, and we are beyond grateful for the time, energy, and heart our volunteers pour into this ministry each week.

We give a HUGE shout-out to Presidential Mortgage, which has just become our third Signature Sponsor of our 3rd Annual Golf Tournament to be held Thursday, September 17 at Lake Chesdin Golf Club. Presidential joins Colonial Plumbing and Heating and MEB as Signature Sponsors thus far - and we can still accept one more. This sponsorship level is $2,500, and includes various methods of added publicity along with a golf team of 4. Plus, this commitment from Presidential will provide the equivalent to 8,050 meals for those we serve. Thanks so much for this support!

The CHFP was so fortunate to have a team from Shamin Hotels to help us at distribution last Friday. The pantry cannot do what it does without the support from local groups and businesses such as this. We are hoping team members felt well-used . . . they should, because they were part of our busiest week during this calendar year - as we served 283 households, whereas our average is about 265. Thanks for improving lives within our community Shamin Team!

You all truly showed up and showed out at our Community Resource Fair! From the families who came out to connect with resources, to the smiles, conversations, and support shared throughout the day. It meant everything to us.

Together, we didn’t just share resources… We planted seeds 🌱
Seeds of growth, connection, knowledge, and opportunity that will continue to grow long after the event.

Our Director, Warren (pictured with Sam), had the privilege of speaking to Peoples Advantage full staff at its breakfast meeting earlier this morning. Peoples Advantage is a trusted community partner providing financial and credit services for those on limited or low incomes.
