💜 OUT OF STORAGE SPACE, BUT FULL OF BLESSINGS 💜

We’ve received several questions about why donation collections are currently paused.

The simple answer is that Oak Grove Community Closet, a volunteer-led nonprofit community outreach program, has officially outgrown our storage space! While that creates some challenges, it is also a tremendous blessing and a testament to the generosity of our community and the growth of this outreach.

Oak Grove Baptist Church is home to worship services, ministries, school and daycare operations, outreach programs, and many community activities throughout the week, so available storage space on campus is very limited. We are forever grateful to Oak Grove Baptist Church for being our home base and biggest supporter. 💜

The donations already entrusted to us are continuing to bless families through our FREE giveaway events, pantry partnerships, mini pop-up events, and other outreach efforts throughout the Northern Neck.

Our team is actively working behind the scenes to secure additional storage space through fundraising, sponsorships, partnerships, and community support.

Please continue thinking of us as you sort through your donations and stay tuned for future collection announcements. We are gearing up for a few events and can’t wait to see you all soon!

This video shares just a glimpse of the heart, teamwork, dedication, and passion behind our mission. Thank you to every volunteer, donor, sponsor, church family member, and supporter who continues helping us bless families throughout our community.

Oak Grove Community Closet is a nonprofit community outreach program based at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Colonial Beach, serving families throughout King George, Westmoreland, Richmond County, Essex, and surrounding Northern Neck communities.

Oak Grove Community Closet was officially approved on July 7, 2025, launched on August 24, 2025, and held our first major FREE giveaway event on October 18, 2025. In less than a year, God has already done more than we could have imagined.

What many people don't see are the countless hours that happened long before our first event. From establishing our name, creating our logo, building the foundation of the program, developing systems and processes, organizing donations, coordinating volunteers, creating graphics, and planning events, every detail has been built with dedication, prayer, teamwork, and a heart for serving others.

Inspired by previous outreach experience in Northern Virginia, this vision was brought to the Northern Neck and established at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Colonial Beach with one goal: to serve and bless families throughout our community.

As the founder, I am humbled by what has been accomplished in less than a year. We have already been blessed to serve over 300+ families, and the impact continues to grow through the support of our leadership committee, board members, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, church family, and supporters.

Oak Grove Community Closet is a recycle, closet refresh, and re-bless outreach program providing FREE clothing and shoes for anyone who could use a little extra help, save money, or simply refresh their closet. Including yourself!

To everyone who has supported this vision, stood beside us throughout this journey, and helped turn an idea into a growing community outreach, thank you!! None of this would be possible without the dedication, encouragement, prayers, and countless hours given by so many amazing people.

The future of Oak Grove Community Closet is bright, and we believe the best is still ahead of us. In time, the bigger vision for this outreach will continue to unfold as we work together to bless even more families throughout our community. 💜

Another milestone to celebrate……

Oak Grove Community Closet was inspired by previous outreach experience with a similar community program in Northern Virginia before bringing that same heart for helping families to the Northern Neck community.

Since launching in August 2025, we have already been blessed to serve over 300+ families throughout King George, Westmoreland, and surrounding Northern Neck communities and we’re continuing to grow every month. 💜

Thank you to our church family, volunteers, sponsors, donors, partners, and every person who has shared, prayed for, donated to, and supported this mission along the way. We truly couldn’t do this without you. And a special thanks to Oak Grove Baptist Church for being our home base for the Oak Grove Community Closet

And remember, this program is for everyone. We are a recycle, refresh & re-bless outreach where anyone can donate and anyone can shop FREE for gently used clothing and shoes. We all can use a little closet refresh sometimes. 💜

💜 A Huge Thank You to Our Sponsors! 💜

It’s sponsorships like this that make a HUGE impact! These industrial shelves have helped us better sort, organize, and store donations and outreach supplies inside our storage container while making a huge difference behind the scenes for our volunteers and outreach efforts. 🙌💜💚

These shelves have helped tremendously, and we are so thankful for this blessing. As our outreach continues growing, we are now fundraising and exploring additional storage solutions so we can continue serving families and organizing donations efficiently. What a blessing that is to witness. 💜

💜 Oak Grove Community Closet — More Than FREE Clothing💜

Oak Grove Community Closet is a nonprofit recycle, refresh & re-bless outreach program operating under Oak Grove Baptist Church and serving families through King George, Colonial Beach, and surrounding communities within the Northern Neck.

Officially approved on July 7, 2025, launched on August 24, 2025, and holding our very first large FREE giveaway event on October 18, 2025, what started as a simple vision to help others has quickly grown into a community-wide outreach of compassion, hope, and support.

We are making a HUGE impact serving families through FREE clothing, shoes, coats, and essentials outreach efforts.

Founded by Brenda “Bren” Sharitz-Pence and inspired by previous outreach leadership experience in Northern Virginia, the program was brought to the Northern Neck with the support of a dedicated volunteer committee, leadership team, board members, community partners, and many incredible volunteers who share the same heart for helping others.

Sometimes families simply need a little extra help, relief from financial strain, or even just a simple closet refresh and that is exactly why this program was created. Our mission is for everyone in the community to feel welcome using our services, whether for themselves or someone they know who could benefit from them.

Our heart and mission is for everyone in the community to feel welcome to use our services, including yourself or someone you may know who could benefit from them. With the support of Oak Grove Baptist Church providing our home base, an incredible and still-growing team of dedicated volunteers, donors, sponsors, community partnerships, the Oak Grove Baptist Church Food Pantry partnership, and most importantly God’s guidance, this outreach has grown quicker than we ever imagined.

We are truly humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support from this community. The impact has already been such an incredible blessing, and we haven’t even been open a full year yet.

The best is yet to come for Oak Grove Community Closet, and we are only getting started. With continued support from volunteers, donors, sponsors, partnerships, funding, prayers, and our surrounding communities, even more families can continue to be blessed through this growing outreach program.
