💜Oak Grove Community Closet Volunteer FAQs💚

We’re getting a lot of questions about volunteering here at the Oak Grove Community Closet so thought we would address it.

Do you provide community service hours?
Yes! We provide opportunities to earn community service hours.

What ages can volunteer?
We welcome volunteers ages 8 and older. Some positions have specific age requirements but we will work with you too to find the right area.

Do you accept groups?
Absolutely, we would love for a group of you to join us.

Where are you located?
Oak Grove Community Closet is located at:

Oak Grove Baptist Church

Colonial Beach, VA 22443

When do you need volunteers?
We need volunteers throughout the year in many different areas—especially behind the scenes! Opportunities include sorting and organizing donations, collecting donation bins, assisting shoppers, helping at events, administrative support and much more.

When can I volunteer next?
Create a free account on Volunteer River Counties, search for Oak Grove Community Closet, and click Become a Fan. Choose an available opportunity and click Respond to sign up.

💜Anonymous Donations Keep Arriving - Oak Grove Communiry Closet! 💚

Over the last couple of days, we have received several wonderful donations from anonymous donors who shopped from our Walmart Wishlist here at the Oak Grove Community Closet !

In this batch, we received a folding table, three clear storage bins, and a heavy-duty wagon to help us prepare our new collection, sorting, and organizing containers.

We may not know who you are, but please know how incredibly grateful we are! This community is truly such a blessing. Your generosity is helping us get one step closer to being fully prepared for our upcoming collection and blessing even more families. 💜💚

👗 CINDERELLA’S CLOSET—EVERYTHING IS FREE! 👗

Colonial Beach Baptist Church is hosting a special Cinderella’s Closet FREE shopping event!

Need a dress for Homecoming, a beauty pageant, holiday event, cruise, wedding, or another special occasion? We have lots of beautiful dresses waiting for you!

We will also have:

• A selection of wedding dresses
• Lots of shoes
• Dress clothes for work
• A limited selection of everyday clothing

This event is open to everyone! Colonial Beach, Montross, King George, Fredericksburg, and all surrounding communities are welcome.

Everything is completely FREE! Come find the perfect outfit and give something beautiful another chance to shine!

Just a $25 donation to Oak Grove Community Closet can make a meaningful difference. Every contribution helps us purchase the supplies, equipment, and essential items needed to keep our program running and bless even more families.

Here’s what your generosity can help provide:

💜• $25 — Small organizing bins, office supplies, or new essential items
💚• $50 — Organizing supplies, socks, underwear, bras, hats, gloves, or scarves
💜• $100 — A collapsible cart, an industrial laundry cart, coats, boots, or essentials for several families
💚• $250 — A heavy-duty shelving unit or a larger supply of essential items
💜• $500 or more — Helps fund an air-conditioning and heating combination unit or other large equipment needed for our storage and sorting areas

It takes more than clothing and volunteers to make this minisrry nonprofit community outreach possible. Donations also help provide office supplies, organizing materials, storage equipment, and larger items that help keep our volunteers safe and comfortable while they work behind the scenes throughout the year.

Whether you give $10, $25, $50, $100, or more, every donation adds up. Every dollar donated goes right back into purchasing the supplies, equipment, and essentials needed to serve our community.

💜OAK GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH MINISTRY FAIR HIGHLIGHTS 💜

What a wonderful day at the Oak Grove Baptist Church Ministry Fair! It was a blessing to see so many of our church’s ministries and programs come together to share how they serve our church family and community.

Oak Grove Community Closet enjoyed meeting everyone who stopped by our display. We welcomed new volunteers, heard from supporters who donated much-needed supplies for our storage containers, and received so many encouraging words about everything we have accomplished during our first year! And so many enjoyed watching our video to see actually what we do. Many didn’t realize how much effort goes into our shopping boutique-style events.

We were also excited to officially introduce the Oak Grove Emergency Hope & Relief Program, a new referral-based division of Oak Grove Community Closet . Since October 2025, we have already blessed 17 families experiencing crisis situations through our growing community partnerships. A list of approved referral partners will be shared once finalized.
