This photo captures some of the people behind the museim project—not just a building, but the volunteers who have worked to preserve and share the history of Colo and its people. The groundbreaking shovel in the center makes the moment especially meaningful. After years of collecting artifacts, fundraising, and planning, it's exciting to see the museum project moving forward.
(We are missing a few members who were not available at the time of the photo, that have also been active in working to move this project forward.)

A milestone day for the Colo Historical Association! 🎉 Dirt work for the new Colo Historical Museum officially began today. After almost a year of planning, fundraising, and hard work, we are excited to see this dream becoming a reality. This is the beginning of a new home where we can preserve, display, and share the history of Colo and the people who have made our community special.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way! ❤️. Please continue to send your donations. We are still raising funds for Phase II - completing the interior by spring.

The Colo Historical Museum – Phase I is Moving Forward!
We are excited to begin Phase I of our new museum—constructing the weather-tight building shell with a concrete floor. ❤️ (cost approx $125,000)
But our work doesn’t stop there! We will continue raising funds ($75,000+) throughout the winter so we can complete the interior of the museum this spring and begin creating a place where Colo’s history can be preserved and shared.
💙 Every donation, small or large, makes a difference! And right now, we have a generous donor who will match donations up to $5,000!

We are set up at Touch A Truck on Main Street in Colo from 10 - Noon.
Kids, stop by and get a free safety cone squishy.
We also have t-shirts for the kids for $10!

We are excited to be participating in the Colo Library "Touch A Truck" event next Saturday (9/12)!
Be sure to stop by our table - we have giveaways for the kids.
You can also purchase our KIDS t-shirts for $10! There will be a limited supply, so we suggest you pre-order before Saturday so you are sure to get the size you need.
NOTE: (We won't have infant or Toddler sizes on Saturday, so if you need one of those sizes, you must pre-order)

Thank you to everyone that has donated to our museum fund. There is so much great Colo history to share. From the first businesses, to the schools, churches and the people! We will also tell the stories and history of the railroad. But to do this, we are asking for your help by donating, no matter the size - everything helps & is appreciated.
Together, let's keep Colo's history alive!

We're excited to let you know the Colo Historical Association will be participating in the Colo Public Library 'Touch A Truck' on Saturday, September 12th from 10 am - Noon!
Stop by and see us - we'll be handing out traffic cone squishies and motivational wristbands to the Kids!
And we'll also be selling our new COLO IOWA Kids t-shirts for $10! (Limited supply) You can Pre-order and we'll have it ready for you to pick up that day. (Choose between the 2 designs, white OR grey t-shirt & let us know what size)
