We'll be using this space to remind everyone of various policies Archon has in place to help ensure an enjoyable con is had by all. Topics to review in upcoming posts include Accessibility, Badge/Membership, Weapons and Alcohol/Party policies, but the Harassment policy is up first. This is posted at archonstl.org, is printed in the program book and is also physically posted at Registration during the convention.

Harassment
All attendees at Archon are expected to treat other attendees, guests, staff, and the public with respect. Harassment of any kind, including physical assault, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography, or unwelcome physical attentions, will not be tolerated. Based upon the facts of the specific situation an individual may be subject to one or more of the following:

- A warning to cease further contact with the attendee
- Confiscation of the individual's badge and removal from the convention
- The individual turned over to Collinsville, Illinois law enforcement

If you feel you have been harassed, please find the nearest Archon Security personnel (identified by an orange ribbon attached to their badge) or Archon Committee (identified by a black ribbon attached to their badge) for assistance. Any attempt to have an innocent person removed from the convention by falsely accusing him or her of threats will be itself treated as an act of harassment and will be dealt with appropriately. The responsibility for settling interpersonal disputes lies solely with the individuals involved, and Archon will not tolerate being used as a leveraging point in such disputes.

If, at any time, you feel that your personal safety or the safety of others is in jeopardy, please contact:

- The Collinsville Police Department in an emergency via 9-1-1
- The Collinsville Police Department's non-emergency phone number is 618-344-2131
- You may also go directly to security operations in room 441 of the DoubleTree Hotel or Con HQ (Show Office) at the Gateway Center to report an incident

They call it Center Hall A, but we know it’s the Dealers Room! It’s 10,000 sq ft of assorted geekery – books and movies, tshirts and clothing, games, jewelry, arts and crafts, and usually we even wedge in a few authors and artists. Archon is still a few months away, but a big gaming con is right around the corner! Our friends at DieCon have another great slate of RPGs, board games, premium events and more next month.

Get ready for three days of Adventure Gaming, fun and laughter -- come celebrate the 25th DieCon Convention! Check out diecon.com for the schedule of Adventure Gaming events and for registration.

Online full-weekend registration available until June 3rd with onsite registration available at DieCon June 5-7. Both full weekend and single-day memberships will be available on site at DieCon.

If you’ve never attended – or haven’t been for awhile – we want you to know the Archon Committee and Staff believe that all Archon attendees should feel welcome and safe, and should enjoy their time at our convention.

We have several policies in place on our website, on our social media and at registration outlining key areas relating to security that we expect attendees to follow. Details on each subject -- including attendee support, security, remediation and contact details -- can be found under the “Policies & Rules” section at archonstl.org

1) Accessibility: all attendees should feel welcome and should enjoy their time at our convention. This includes attendees who have visible or invisible accessibility needs.
a. If you require assistance, support, or specific accommodation in order for you to participate in Archon comfortably and safely, please email us prior to the convention or visit ConHQ in the Gateway Center during the con

2) Harassment: all attendees at Archon are expected to treat other attendees, guests, staff, and the public with respect. Harassment of any kind, including physical assault, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography, or unwelcome physical attentions, will not be tolerated

3) Weapons: simulated or prop-weapons *are* allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security and in compliance with our stated policy. No real fi****ms are allowed at Archon

At the convention, Archon Security personnel (identified by an orange “Security” ribbon attached to their badge) or Archon Committee (identified by a black “Committee” ribbon) can provide assistance with these issues.

As a reminder, the next committee meeting is this Tuesday, May 12 at 6pm.

The location is the St. Louis County Library - Clark Family Branch (1640 Lindbergh Blvd, St Louis, MO 63131-3501). This event is open to the public for in-person attendance only, and is your opportunity to experience the planning process behind Archon 49, ask questions, make recommendations, and most importantly – get involved!

We'll handle a little internal business, with committee and staff submitting nominations for the St Louis Science Fiction Ltd board of directors first, before moving on to regular business.

On June 13th we'll hold our only Saturday meeting of the year. More information is available under the Events tab.

We've done a minor refresh of archonstl.org. This is still a work in progress and there are some broader changes being developed -- we'll let you know when that happens. But until then If you'd like to have a look around and offer your constructive criticism we would be happy to listen!
