Eight-year-old Bryson sold his Pokémon cards to help his beloved puppy Bruce.❤️🐶

Bryson Kliemann offered his cherished Pokémon card collection to help cover Bruce’s nearly $700 veterinary care after his family faced financial difficulty. His story inspired strangers to contribute more than $19,000. The additional support helped other families with veterinary expenses, while The Pokémon Company surprised Bryson by replacing his cards with a special collection of rare items.

Important lesson

SICK TO MY STOMACH....

This morning I walked in and found Jay had gotten his leg caught in the hay net.

I am SO thankful he is a level headed and did not panic. He was sweaty and trembling by the time I got to him, but standing quietly waiting for help. I immediately grabbed the knife and cut it down.

I stood there a long time with him. I just put my hands on him to let him know I was there, and let him know he was safe. He eventually sighed, his tummy started to gurgle, and he began to relax his face.

I felt horrible, yet relieved.

Situations like this remind me how much a horse’s ability to self-regulate matters. A frantic horse could have severely injured himself trying to escape because horses don’t rise to the occasion. They fall back on their nervous system patterns.

Today I was incredibly thankful for his brain and his trust. He was definitely waiting for me to free him. As soon as he heard me he whinnied...and it was a different whinny where I knew something was wrong.

Needless to say… the hay net setup is being reevaluated.

At least there's a silver lining

BREAKING: Today, the US House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee advanced language that would bar the transportation of horses for slaughter for human consumption in the US and abroad.

Each year, more than 20,000 American horses are trucked to slaughterhouses in Canada and Mexico, where they are brutally butchered for their meat using ineffective stunning methods that can leave them conscious during dismemberment.

The bipartisan amendment to the Committee’s five-year surface transportation reauthorization bill, led by Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) and Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV), would close the legal loophole that permits this practice, achieving the same policy goal as the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act.

AWI joins the ASPCA, Return To Freedom, Wild Horse Conservation, The Wild Beauty Foundation, and advocates throughout the country in urging Congress to bring this widely supported measure across the finish line.
