Old Collierville Non-Profit Org. ©Old Collierville Inc 2010 All rights reserved. Collierville is our home. All of the last names have been here forever. We felt sooo grown up. Mrs.

Those of us who grew up here know each other by first names even if we never met. Everyone knows what a "River Rat" is. We did things like burn a big "C" on the Germantown Football Field before a game, something that would bring the ATF in these days. All of us know what the VFW was. If you are not from here, you wouldn't know why it was a place used by your Mama as day care in the summer, with th

e children most gladly walking 2 miles to get there, barefooted if need be. VFW: "That place was my Mom's babysitter in the summer. We would get up, pack our lunches, and ride our bikes there every day during the week. Didn't come home till it closed. One July 4th, I remember they greased watermelons and you had to get them out of the pool. Best BBQ ever!!"
Sandra Williams
" Well, getting to come over to the swimming pool was a real treat for us old River Rats from Eads/Fisherville. Most of my swimming was in the lake on our land or in ponds so getting to swim in the clear water was a treat. Of course, getting to see all the girls in their bathing suits wasn't bad either. HA"
Charlie Bryan
"That wasnt Donna P in the bikini on the high dive that was Ellen. We all wanted to look like El in a bathing suit and no one loved Glenn Lowe as much as I did. I also had a major crush on Tommy Clark (i would eat Clark bars and hang the wrapper on my wall), and I would sit outside Dakota Arms apt everyday and watch him go to work at Clark gas station on Poplar. (I got over him, Trish)ha...and I am with Janet. I wanted to drown so they would save me......hahaha"
Joyce Rhea Vozza

JOE'S DRIVE-IN: "I think I can see those bottle caps on the ground, can't you?"
Vicki Humphries Whitten. "My family would get BBQ from Joe's for a special treat on some Saturday's after we closed the shoe shop. Wow was it good!"
Lucy Boldreghini Maxwell

HARRELL'S DRUG STORE: "After school we went to Harrel's Drug Store and got Mrs. Strong to fix us a nickel vanilla Pepsi. You could also get a nickel Root Beer. The root beer came in a frosty mug and was bigger than the Pepsi." Chip Hurdle
"When we had sore throat grandmother would take us to Mr.Newby at Harrell's to get our throat mopped ( that's what she called it) Gosh it was absolutely awful." Lynne Strong Dailey

COOKIE'S: "Cookie Snow had a pool room across 72, near the Sunset. Had some mean payoff pinball machines, too. A big day was when you sould go in and buy a roll of nickles..2 dollars. Craig probably didn't hang out in Cookie's Pool Room, Melinda. Mostly me and the Joyners.. lol"
Phil Thompson

WHITE CAFE: "The famous White Cafe neon sign that is seem in many pictures of the square was the frist neon sign in Collierville. My father, Leon Snow, owned White Cafe and had the sign place at the cafe. If I remember correctly, this is where my father met my mother, Elizabeth Wilson. My father was also noted for his delicious BBQ at Sunset Cafe. As a young I pretended to be sick on many school days so that I could hang around Sunset as my mother worked. The City Cafe was next to the Hotel. White Cafe was about midway between City Cafe and McGinnis Station. This brings back many fond memories!"
Audrey Snow Caldwell

SUNSET: "When we moved to collierville(1957), we bought Mr. Walter Looney's house and he and Mama Ruby moved to the motel he had built. When we got a little older, he let Linda Ballard and I stay in that room closest to the office. He was a great man." BeBe Lemmons
"I really never was suppose to go there. My Mom swore they rented rooms by the hour! Never knew how she knew that." Sandra Williams
"Mrs. Harris made the best chocolate pie." Ronny Williams

PITTMAN'S DAIRY BAR: "Best chocolate milkshakes ever!"
Phyllis Snow Carpenter

KELSEY BROS. DEPT. STORE: "The white blouses did come from Kelsey Brothers and they cost a $1.98. This way we all matched...we could wear dark skirts, did not matter what color, but our blouses had to be white and all the same." Vicki Humphries Whitten

CHARLIE'S SHOE SHOP: Charlie Boldreghini owned the shoe shop. He was wonderful. Everyone loved the Boldreghini family. "That's a sight I saw often ... your aunt Teresa & I were classmates. Great family!!! Loved them all dearly. B. must have been taking the pic since she's not in the shot. In high school several of us, with Mike, would gather around their table and play poker (for fun of course). Love the Boldreghini's!!! B made us all feel like family." David Joyner

This is a very, very small peek into the window of our lives here in our dear old Collierville....the best place in the world to grow up. Melinda Cox Hall

🕵️‍♂️ Even though National Police Week was last week, we couldn't let the month pass without sharing this incredible gem from the Morton Museum archives! Take a look back at the Collierville Police Department in 1973.

From the classic uniforms to the classic patrol cars parked on the square, so much has changed over the last few decades, but the dedication to keeping our town safe has remained exactly the same.

Fun fact for our local history buffs: Marion R. Ferguson was Collierville's Chief of Police back in '73! He is in the front row, third from the left.

We want to extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to the men and women of the Collierville Police Department, both past and present, who serve and protect our community every single day. We appreciate you more than words can say! 💙🚔

It’s graduation season in Collierville, and as we celebrate the bright futures of our newest alumni, it’s the perfect time to look back at those who walked the stage before them.

Take a look at the Collierville High School Class of 1942. These graduates stepped out into a rapidly changing world with the same Dragon pride we see on display today. Though the decades have passed, the spirit of community and perseverance remains a constant thread in our town's history.

To the Class of 2026: as you cross the stage and begin your own chapters, know that you are part of a long and storied legacy.

Congratulations to our newest graduates! 🎓🐉
