Major congratulations to Morton Museum of Collierville History and Director Neecole Gregory for achieving high praise and recognition for our "Writing Alcorn Village" exhibit!!!

It was an honor and a pleasure for us to work on this exhibit with you guys and this is a great honor!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Morton Museum of Collierville History received an Award of Excellence at the Tennessee Association of Museums' annual conference last week in Knoxville! The award recognizes our 2024 temporary exhibition, "Writing Alcorn Village," which was co-created with Collierville Community Justice to highlight the rich and often untold stories of Collierville’s African American community.

Through oral histories, photographs, and archival research, "Writing Alcorn Village" sheds light on the vibrant life of this neighborhood and its lasting impact on Collierville’s history. We’re honored to see this important work recognized and remain committed to telling inclusive stories that reflect our diverse community.

⭐️CCJ was pleased to present a donation to the Isaac Chapel Rosenwald Museum in Byhalia, MS! A big thank you to Mr. McClarty and Mr. Payne for taking our Youth Fellows on an incredible tour. We are grateful for their friendship and support as we work together to preserve Black history, Rosenwald School history, and continue to educate the next generations.

Today is the last day to vote early in the Collierville Alderman position 3 Runoff Election! This is a run-off election since no candidate got 51% of the votes for this position.

The two candidates that face each other in the run off are
Chad Lindsay and Nick Robbins (names listed alphabetically just as they will be on the ballot).

Compassion Church is the early voting precinct and will be open today from 3pm to 7pm.

Election Day is December 10th. If you vote on election day, you must vote at your assigned precinct. There is ONE CHANGE to that this time. If you normally vote at Collierville Church of Christ (precinct 02-08) then your election day voting location will be Collierville Bible Church just this one time. ⭐️ Less than 2 weeks remaining to visit CCJ’s special exhibit, “Writing Alcorn Village,” at the Morton Museum of Collierville History!

✍🏼 This exhibit is a culmination of CCJ’s intensive research on Alcorn Village, Collierville’s first historically Black neighborhood. At a time when redlining and discriminatory lending practices excluded Black Americans from living in the suburbs, Alcorn Village transformed opportunities for aspiring Black homeowners.

🗓️ Make sure to come check the exhibit out while it’s still up, until November 23.
