St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church Mark the Evangelist in the city of Alexandria around 43 A.D.

The Coptic Church was established in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ by St. The church adheres to the Nicene Creed. St. Athanasius (296-373 A.D.), the twentieth Pope of the Coptic Church effectively defended the Doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ's Divinity at the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. His affirmation of the doctrine earned him the title; "Father of Orthodoxy" and St. Athanasius "the Apostolic". The term "Coptic" is derived from the Greek "Aigyptos" meaning "Egyptian". When the Arabs arrived in Egypt in the seventh century, they called the Egyptians "qibt". Thus the Arabic word "qibt" came to mean both "Egyptians" and "Christians".

Mr. Samih Hanna, husband of Mrs. Mona Geirgis, father of Sherif & Dareen Labib, and grandfather of Maya & Jana Samih rested in the Lord.
May God repose his soul in the Paradise of Joy and grant his family the comfort of His Holy Spirit.

God willing, we'll pray the funeral 10- 11am this Friday 9/ 18.

We'll also have a consolation gathering 7- 8pm that same day in the big church.

Peace and Grace, we are excited to announce the schedule of St. Mary’s Revival 2026 at St. Mary’s Church in Colleyville, TX, starting Tuesday, August 6th, 2025 with Vespers, Veneration, and a Procession to honor our beloved Mother.

Each evening will be filled with spiritual talk, including sermons by our beloved fathers from across the DFW area. We warmly invite you and your families to join us for this blessed time of prayer.
