Camp Iakwe

We have a few items remaining on our Jimjera Project wishlist and could use your help to clear our list!

The Jimjera Project is one of our favorite culture camp traditions and we're so proud to be celebrating our 10th anniversary!

Please support our project by purchasing an item remaining on our wishlist. All supplies are shipped directly to us that we assemble, add personal letters, and ship to students in RMI.

We also need help in covering shipping fees. You can donate to help with those costs, as well as to help support our Camp Iakwe programming overall.

Camp Iakwe is just around the corner so it is time to share The Jimjera Project school supply wishlist!

Each year, we send backpacks full of school supplies directly to students in the Marshall Islands. Part of our culture camp tradition is to have families at Camp Iakwe write personal letters to include in the backpacks, as a way to send our iakwe and connect to the children of RMI.

We rely on generous donations to help support this project. Once supplies are ordered, they are shipped directly to camp staff who sort and organize the supplies for final assembly at Camp Iakwe.

Click The Jimjera Project Amazon Wishlist to view and purchase the supplies needed. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/IL5KZ1ACI7VG?ref_=wl_share

Please also consider donating to help defray shipping fees or the rising camp expenses with a financial contribution by donating here. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=2377CC5A9P75A

Feel free to share with anyone who would be interested in supporting our program.

Thank you to everyone who helped clear our Jimjera Project school supply wish list. This weekend at Camp Iakwe we filled the backpacks with supplies, camp photos, and personal letters to the students in the Marshall Islands.

There is still a way to help this year! We heard from many who asked if there was a way to still donate since the supplies were all purchased from our list. We have set up a link to take donations which will help offset our fees to ship the backpacks to RMI.

Please click the link below to donate directly. Any amount is helpful and very appreciated.

It’s that time of year when we share our Jimjera Project wishlist and ask for your help! We began the Jimjera Project in 2015 as a way to support students in the Marshall Islands. Each year we fill backpacks with school supplies to send in time for back to school. Families at Camp Iakwe write letters to be included in the backpacks as a personal way to wish the students well for their new school year. It is a great way to connect to youth in RMI and is one of our favorite annual traditions!

To support our project, you can click the link below to select an item from our wishlist to purchase. Everything will get shipped directly to us to sort and send to RMI. We appreciate everyone's continued support to make this project happen!

Reminder! Camp Iakwe 2023 Registration closes April 7th, or earlier if we reach our capacity.

If you didn't receive a link to register, please email us [email protected].

Culture camp dates: July 7th-9th. Our program this year is developed for families with school-aged children (entering K-12). Breakout sessions will be divided into younger, middle, and teenage groups. Programming is structured to meet the needs of each group with age-specific curriculum and projects, including more advanced discussions for teens. All curriculum will continue to build on meaningful cultural lessons as well as cover important topics that come with growing up as a transracial Marshallese adoptee.
