EXTENDING THE LINK (ETL) – Organization Summary

Extending the Link is a student-founded and run, non-profit structured, documentary film company. Each year, ETL identifies an under-reported, global social justice issue to highlight through film. A small group of students travel to the international location, spend their January break filming in country, and return to CSB/SJU to share their docume

ntary during the spring semester. By applying each documentary as a vehicle for social change ETL strives to not just create awareness about an international situation, but to empower local organizations to develop sustainable action to address that issue. ETL views these documentaries as just the first small step towards the increased awareness and inspired action that our world desperately needs. Organization Evaluation:

A. Social Change: Each of the eight documentaries that ETL has produced has successfully served as a vehicle for social change, as listed above. These community efforts are tangible examples the catalyst effect of our documentaries. Awareness: Our documentaries don’t only create awareness of international issues in thousands of local individuals, but they also make the international communities whom we partner with aware that CSB/SJU cares about and wants to work with them. Empowering Others: By working hard to create more awareness and action around social change we empower others to get outside of their comfort zones and speak about social justice. We strive to inspire others to realize that each person can be a powerful agent of change. Personal/Professional Growth, ETL develops team members’ leadership abilities and understanding of their own strengths through the provision of critical life experiences that ultimately inform career decisions and life priorities. Community Support: In order to produce our annual documentary as a non-profit structured organization, ETL generates funds through grants, individual/organization donations, and fundraising events.

ETL would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who came to support the film gallery! This event would not have been possible without the hard work from our team members, your support, and the people who were willing to be vulnerable and share their stories with us. Again, THANK YOU

Proud to have Regan on our ETL team. Congrats!

Meet CSB senior Regan Dolezal 🎓

Regan is graduating with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Global Business Leadership. She is also the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship! After graduation she will begin her studies in the Czech Republic.

“I have so, so many incredible memories from CSB+SJU. While the big events like study abroad experiences have been so amazing, my favorite memories will always be the unplanned nights home with my roommates that turned into some of the most memorable!

CSB+SJU have provided me not only the skills I need to feel prepared professionally, but the support system in the form of faculty, staff, and friends, that makes me feel confident in my ability to navigate life post-grad.”

Congratulations Regan!

What a great week! Thank you to everyone who has participated and made these events possible!

We want to thank Student Accessibility Services for joining us in the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University Multicultural Center today! Together along with the Gender Studies Department's Disability Justice Course, CSB/SJU Libraries, and Extending the Link students were able to hear about the Student Accessibility office and their staff, paint quilt squares for an upcoming visual campaign, and enjoy hot cider in the Center. Don't forget tomorrow we will be commencing Disability Awareness Week with a viewing of Crip Camp at 7PM!

Mark your calendars for Disability Awareness Week November 29-December 3! Please join us on Monday, November 29. This event will serve as an introduction to disability activism by two highly recognized disability rights advocates. Through their expertise and experience in disability right advocation, CSBSJU hopes to have a fruitful discussion about the intersectionality of
disabilities. This discussion will serve as a way to reflect on our own ableist ideology, and
understand the diverse complexity of disability and disability rights.

We would love it if you join us tonight at 6!
