The Dwelling Place is fundraising for our friend Cheyenne, who is 23 years old and lives with physical and intellectual disabilities. Because Cheyenne has not had access to healthcare, she does not have an official diagnosis or disability to claim, even though these challenges affect her daily life.
We met Cheyenne through our Love and Light ministry before we even had our first worship night, and over time we have grown close.
For the last 6 months, Cheyenne has been caring for her mom while her mom lived with stage 4 heart failure. Two months ago, her mom was placed on in-home hospice, and last night, she passed away. Cheyenne’s mom was the only true family she has. After carrying so much on her shoulders as a caregiver, Cheyenne is now facing an overwhelming loss and the day-to-day uncertainty of how to keep going.
Cheyenne has had a very hard time getting a job, and we am deeply concerned about her ability to manage basic needs right now. She has been in and out of homelessness through much of her childhood, which makes this loss and instability even more difficult. This fundraiser is meant to give her some steady support as she navigates the weeks and months ahead.
