Pasture mealybug continues to pose a threat to Texas pastures and forage production.

The invasive pest can cause “pasture dieback,” leaving grasses yellowed, stunted or even dead. With limited management options available, monitoring and early detection remain important for producers.

On August 1, the infested zone established in Pecos County was modified in association with a NWS detection in a sheep. The existing zone expands into portions of Crockett, Pecos, and Terrell Counties.
