By Congressional Resolution, bells are to be rung from "sea to shining sea" each July 4th at 2pm Eastern (1pm CENTRAL, noonMT & 11aPT). We have distributed 300 "Let Freedom Ring" mini-bells, since February 2026. We understand that the Bush Library will give away 1,000 mini-bells on Sat, 7/4 for their bell ringing ceremony.

Many thanks to serial volunteer" Sharron Rosedahl (President-Friends of BCS Libraries, DAR-LaVillita, ALA-Unit 159, BVWAA) and others who will be ringing the "Bell of Peace" in front of the Mounce Library, 13 times, in honor of the original 13 colonies. at 1pmCT on Sat, 7/4. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🇺🇸🇺🇸
The Bell of Peace was rung on Veterans Day (11/11) 1918 at 4am, when word of WWI's end reached . 42 soldiers from Brazos County were killed in action.
