What’s the story behind the purple pinkie? 💜
During polio vaccination campaigns in many countries, a child’s pinkie finger is marked with purple ink after they receive the vaccine. It’s a simple way for health workers to identify which children have been vaccinated during large-scale immunization efforts.
That little purple finger has become a powerful symbol of Rotary’s fight to End Polio Now—representing one more child protected and one more step toward a polio-free world. 🌍
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than four decades, helping vaccinate billions of children around the world. And until every child is protected, the work continues.
