The Urban Interface

The Urban Interface The Urban Interface is a 501(c)3 dedicated to the well being of wildlife, people, and the inevitable interaction between them.

The Urban Interface is a 501(c)3 public charity and educational, conservation based organization dedicated to the careful stewardship of wildlife, human development, and the vision of creating a more balanced and sustainable Community between the two. At our core, we exist to provide education regarding ecology, biology and the importance of the natural world in todayโ€™s suburban environment while

striving to provide relief and care for injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife in our area. Like the forestry term we are named after, The Urban Interface strives to be a mediator between wild lands and urban development, providing the opportunity for people to engage with nature and wildlife in a unique and safe environment that protects both parties and encourages healthy growth on both sides.

โ€œWe have become great because of the lavish use of our resources. But the time has come to inquire seriously what will happen when our forests are gone, when the coal, the iron, the oil, and the gas are exhausted, when the soils have still further impoverished and washed into the streams, polluting the rivers, denuding the fields and obstructing navigation.โ€ - Theodore Roosevelt (from nps.gov)

Theodore Roosevelt is coined the โ€œconservationist presidentโ€ by the National Parks Service, and with good reason. During his presidency at the turn of the 20th century, he established the USFS ๐ŸŒฒ, established 150 national forests ๐ŸŒณ, 4 national game preserves ๐ŸฆŒ, 51 federal bird reserves ๐Ÿฆ…, 18 national monuments ๐Ÿ—ฝ, and 5 national parks ๐Ÿœ. He protected 230 million acres of land during his presidency, truly doing what he could while he could, helping lay an amazing foundation for the future of American conservation efforts. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ How do you do what you can with what you have where you are? Letโ€™s hear it! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป
