We am pleased to announce the fifth annual railroad symposium jointly
sponsored by the Texas Eagle Chapter NRHS and the Railway & Locomotive
Historical Society at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library from
10:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th.

As in previous years, the program will feature four speakers
discussing various aspects of railroading, rail photography and
railfanning. Of special note is former Secretary of Transportation
Andrew H. Card who will discuss labor/management relations and DOT
initiatives while he served as Secretary during the administration of
George H.W. Bush. Ken Fitrzgerald will present his work documenting
UP steam engine 844 as it pulled the Valley Eagle between McAlester,
OK and Hearne, TX. Tom Marsh will present "Seventy from the 70s" with
an old-fashioned, pre-digital age Kodak Carousel slide show of
railroad action in and around Houston during the 1970s and Union
Pacific dispatcher Stuart Schroeder will describe the ways train
dispatching has changed during his quarter-century of work and share
some photographs from his service on Southern Pacific and Union
Pacific from 1985 to the present.

The fee will be $15 payable by cash or check the day of the event.
The fee includes admission to all talks, donuts, coffee/water through
the day and a BBQ buffet lunch. Free parking is available at the
museum.

Reservations are not required but are recommended so you will be
guaranteed a spot. Please contact me (Robert Holzweiss) at
