Some Aggies are taking the road less traveled straight into Texas communities that need them most.

Through Texas A&M’s Rural Medicine Program, Aggie medical students gain hands-on experience by working with communities across Texas to support health care access and address physician shortages. Students are discovering a passion for rural health care and building relationships that extend far beyond the clinic. Their work reflects the Aggie commitment to service, leadership and improving lives across Texas.

His homes may be off the grid, but his impact is reaching an entire community.

From building net-zero homes in Hawaii to helping wildfire survivors find stable housing, architect David Sellers ’01 is turning innovation into action. Inspired by his East Texas roots and shaped by his time at Texas A&M University, Sellers has dedicated his career to creating sustainable solutions that support both people and the planet. Through renewable energy systems, fire-resistant building materials and mentorship for future architects, he is showing how Aggies can build more than structures. They can help build hope for generations to come.

Take a look back at a presidential visit to Aggieland!

Forty years ago, former U.S. Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter took the Texas A&M University stage through the Memorial Student Center Wiley Lecture Series, giving students exposure to leadership and critical conversations. What began as a student-led initiative became a lasting Texas A&M tradition thanks to the endowment of brothers James Wiley Sr. ’46 and A.P. Wiley Jr. ’46.

As they actively worked on their estate plans, Mary and Mark Cooke ’75 received a serendipitous email from the Texas A&M Foundation that they couldn’t ignore.

The Cookes’ simple decision to respond to that fateful email led to an exciting journey of reconnecting with Aggieland through a campus tour and the unexpected education of learning how they could fund an endowed scholarship through an IRA qualified charitable distribution, a tax-efficient giving solution.

Elaine and Steven Nance never walked across the A&M stage, but after watching their children serve as Fish Camp counselors, co-chairs and directors, they understood something most people only feel from the inside. Their endowed scholarship gave Zoe Blackburn '29 that chance — a Longhorn family outsider who left camp certain she'd found where she belonged: https://bit.ly/3PzvsYM

Did you know Texas A&M’s Poultry Science Department produces nearly 40% of the nation’s graduates in the industry, with a 100% job placement rate? As one of only a handful of programs supplying talent to the industry, it plays a critical role in feeding the future.
