April 29, 2026 – “Rebel Women of the Revolution” By Rachael Altman
Rachael is the Carnegie History Center Branch Manager
Women were pivotal "rebels" in the American Revolution, acting as spies, soldiers, saboteurs, and political activists. They formed the Daughters of Liberty to boycott British goods, maintain farms, manage businesses, and raise funds for the Continental Army. Rachael is going to tell us their story.
MAY 27, 2026 – “Spain and the American Revolution”, by Bob Cohen
Bob Cohen, a member of the Texas Ramblers Genealogical Society and many other local groups, has vast knowledge of genealogy.
Spain, in its alliance with France and as part of its conflict with Britain, played an important role in the United States' independence.
June 24, 2026 - “Brides and Bisquits” by Gary Pinkerton
Author Gary Pinkerton will be speaking to us about the contraband trade in Spanish East Texas. He will share the complex economies and shifting structures of a borderland environment. He will bring his books for sale.
In-person/Zoom meetings are held on the last Wednesday of January-October, in the Fellowship Hall of Peace Lutheran Church at 2100 Rio Grande, College Station, Texas, with gathering beginning at 9 a.m. and meetings starting at 9:30 a.m. Zoom information for all meetings may be obtained by emailing [email protected].
