Freemasonry is a beautiful system of morality, veiled in allegory, and illustrated by symbols.

Sul Ross Lodge, chartered in 1947, is thought to be the first Masonic Lodge to have functioned on the campus of a state college or university in the United States. A unique feature of the new lodge was that among its members were the president of Texas A&M College, all of the deans, and almost all of the department heads. The sizeable number of college administrators who were Master Masons provide

d impetus to the growth of the new lodge which created almost 100 new masons during its first year of existence.

Brethren,

Monday night (8/10) will be the August stated meeting. Brother SW will brief the 2026-27 Lodge budget and we will finalize the FC degree team for next Monday (8/17). Dinner at 6 pm followed by the meeting at 7 pm.

Finally, we are looking for meal volunteers for the next 6 months. Brother Treasurer has already claimed September.

Afternoon Brethren,

Tomorrow we will meet up to close the Lodge of Sorrow with the usual ceremony and remembrance of our departed Brethren. I will call to labor at 7pm.

Next week July 13th - July Stated Meeting and Installation. We will have our July Stated meeting and install our officers for the next masonic year. Dinner will be at 6pm and the meeting will begin at 7pm.

“Declaration of Independence” by John Trumbull.

Today marks the 250th anniversary of the formal adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration, signed by 56 men - 8 of whom were known to be Masons - was not a legal document, but instead a formal proclamation of the rights of all men and a condemnation of tyranny. The Declaration highlights the rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness which are fundamental American principles that are still cherished today by Masons in America and all over the world. Happy Independence Day, brethren.

Brethren,

Apologies for not getting this out sooner.
This is a reminder that tonight will be our Stated Meeting for the month of June. Dinner will be at the usual time of 6PM and a program at about 640 by Bro Olivier. Our meeting will begin at 7PM

Last night Sul Ross Lodge held its annual Lamar Awards ceremony. There were five students and two teachers who earned awards. One student even gave a thank you speech. All of the awardees are very dedicated and service oriented.

Tonight at our stated meeting, Brother Chris Ryland visited our lodge and gave an illuminating presentation called “Be The Light.” We also had some fantastic ribs and BBQ personally cooked by the Master himself. If you weren’t at this meeting, you missed a great one.

Brethren,

You are invited to our monthly stated meeting on Monday May 11th. The meeting will begin at 7pm and dinner will be served at 6pm.

This month's program is "Be the Light", presented by visiting Brother Chris Ryland before our meeting. This presentation has been well received from those who have seen it. PM Bobby Roggenbuck will be making the journey with him.

Next week on Wednesday, we will have our Lamar Awards Presentation. Dinner will be at 6pm and the presentations will begin afterward. We do have quite a few students and their families attending so I encourage you to attend.
