Stay On The Wood

Stay On The Wood Join our campaign to prevent the loss of our traditions. There is a long standing tradition at Texas A&M of the student section standing during football games.

As a part of this tradition, the students stand on the wood, that is they stand on top of the benches, during the game. When there is an injured player on the field or when the Aggie Band is taking the field you will hear people yelling "Off The Wood". The entire student body steps down off the benches as a sign of concern and respect. Due to new Texas A&M Athletics Department rules they are attem

pting to put an end to this tradition by citing "view obstruction" due to the recent renovations and "safety concerns" because the benches were not designed to stand on. This website is the start of a campaign to keep the Texas A&M "On The Wood" Aggie tradition. It is our belief that a better solution exists to the minor problems that this tradition causes. Flippantly discontinuing a long standing tradition is not reasonable. We think a compromise to the current decision is in order. Get Involved and share your thoughts. Take our survey!
