- Children's America 250 coloring sheets to educate about America's Revolutionary War and colonial history. Thanks to Jami Bevans, Allen Academy art teacher, for patriotic drawings by her students Bralley and Avery. Jane Cohen prepared 8 coloring pages. Additional pages were from the Texas State Library. The powder horn for kids to color was popular since the speaker talked about them. Making the flag of the USA was also popular.
- America 250 coloring tablecloth for kids to promote patriotism.
- Uncle Sam/USA child sized silhouette open faceboard for children’s pictures with DAR members Sharron Rosedahl and Janet Woodings in colonial dress to stand with children in the Uncle Sam face. Also, adult size Uncle Sam faceboard for pictures.
- Pedigree/Genealogy Chart worksheets with contact and membership information for La Villita for kids and parents to take home and fill out what they can, then the parents can get back with us to see if they have, in their history, an American Revolution patriot to apply for DAR or SAR membership.
- The La Villita DAR brochure for adults interested in membership was given to those interested.
- Refreshments of 4 dozen star cookies, patriotic snacks and water were donated by Carolyn Guillotte and Janet Woodings. Ice donated by Jane Cohen.
- SAR members Bob/Robert Cohen, Tom Rosedahl, Chris Welch, and Seth Hudson from Independence Chapter SAR helped celebrate.
Celebrating America's Semiquincentennial and the values of liberty, democracy, and the sacrifices of those who came before us in this community activity was a great way to increase awareness of DAR and our mission to preserve American history, secure America's future through better education, and promote patriotism and to honor our patriots.
