CARLA COBBS
MS. WHEELCHAIR MARYLAND 2025

Carla was born and raised in Baltimore, MD, and currently resides in Glen Burnie, MD.

Her family background includes African American and Atlantic Creole.

Carla graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She now works as a pharmacist,
educating the public
about medications and the healthcare system.

In her free time, Carla enjoys attending festivals, listening to music, and visiting wineries.

Carla is a proud advocate for people with disabilities, a role she has embraced since birth when she was born with Arthrogryposis, which affects all limbs, thus requiring her to utilize a power wheelchair for mobility.

She was inspired to write her book titled Coping and Thriving with a Chronic Condition.

This motivation led her to create her platform, Inclusive Education (Outside of the Classroom): No Mind Left Behind.

Her platform addresses the inaccessibility of education for individuals, focusing on community resources that promote the independence of people with disabilities.

It also emphasizes employment and leisure opportunities within the disabled community.

Carla describes herself as courageous, empathetic, and innovative.

[To the right is a headshot photo of Carla, smiling widely and posed in her electric wheelchair. She’s wearing her sash and crown.]

Happy Monday! This evening we’re taking it to Maryland! Meet Carla, Ms. Wheelchair Maryland 2025! Say hello, wish her luck and ask her questions in the comments! Keep advocating!

Image Description: A woman named Carla Cobbs is featured, wearing a crown and sash that reads "Ms. Wheelchair Maryland 2025." She is smiling, sitting in a chair.
