UMD Community Learning Garden

Community gardening, teaching sustainable agriculture, and healthy local food at UMD-College Park! Spread the word to your friends and join us!

We are a club that organizes, implements, and manages a community and teaching garden between the Eppley Recreational Center and the School of Public Health at the University of Maryland. We are going to be growing anything and everything from fruit trees to herbs and working with different departments across the University. Summer work hours will start June 1st and will be held on mondays, thursdays, and saturdays from 10-11am! Furthermore, the garden will be closed from May 18th-21th before summer hours begin. 🌱

Our volunteers have been busy at the Community Learning Garden this spring! 🌱🌎💐🌾 We’ve also received visits from the UMD Center for Young Children, presented at AGNR Discovery and Innovation Night about the garden and campus food security, and tabled at EarthFest this past week! Volunteer work hours are from 3-4pm on monday, 3-5 on thursday, and 9-10 on saturday!

Come get a FREE native plant this Wednesday from 4-6:30 in the Animal Sciences Courtyard! Bring anything that can be used as a pot (jar, tupperware, etc) and sign up using the QR code if interested🌱

The UMD Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is offering paid summer internships through a grant from the Office of Sustainability! The Conservation Landscape Internship will include time working in the Community Learning Garden🫛 Link in bio for more information! Applications due March 15th🌱

We had so much fun at our pot decorating/painting and herb planting event! Everyone had such cool designs and it was a great first event of the semester! We are excited to have more events and start volunteer hours on March 23!🪴🪴🎨🎨
