🎃 That’s a wrap on the 2026 Downtown Colfax Halloween Walk!🎃

👻 We counted 1,300+ visitors!

🍁30+ Local Businesses and Organizations created booths or trunks for this event!

🎃 The First Baptist Church gave out over 800 hot dogs!

💀We estimated around 21,000 pieces of candy or toys were given out!

We saw a lot of fantastic costumes and smiling faces! We appreciate you visiting Downtown Colfax this evening! We’d love to give a special thank you to all the businesses, organizations, and volunteers for their participation in this huge event! Special thank you to the Colfax Iowa Police Department and Colfax Volunteer Fire Department/EMT services for directing traffic and keeping visitors healthy. These participants helped create special memories for local and visiting families in historic Downtown Colfax!

The Downtown Colfax Halloween Walk is tonight in Downtown Colfax from 6PM-7:30PM!

There's been some unique challenges in putting together this event this year because of the sidewalk reconstruction project in the Downtown areas. Here's a 'Stuff you should know' post if you're coming to tonight's event. It's a little chaotic but we want it to be fun and safe for everyone!

Remember this event is put together by over 30+ local businesses and local volunteers who want to make sure Downtown Colfax is a great place to live and visit for local families. Please be sure to thank the local businesses and organizations for their contributions!

We'd like to thank Van Maanen Electric for making sure the street lights are turned back on for tonight's event. We'd also like to thank TK Concrete and the Iowa DOT for working to make sure more sidewalk intersections are completed for tonight's event. Thank you!

GOOD NEWS about the Downtown Colfax Halloween Walk taking place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 20 at 6PM-7:30PM.

We just got confirmation from Van Maanen Electric that *MOST* of the downtown streetlights will be on tomorrow! The west side of Walnut Street from W. Howard St to W. Front Street will still be dark due to ongoing electrical work. We've asked the businesses affected to keep their storefront lights on and have some extra lighting; please be careful when walking in that area.

We also were told that more sidewalk intersections will be poured and will be open tomorrow. For your safety, please use extra caution around any construction area that is barricaded off. The Colfax Iowa Police Department will have officers Downtown to help with pedestrian traffic.

We have over 30+ great local businesses and organizations participating tomorrow! We'd like to say thank you for their generosity and participation in making Downtown Colfax a fun place for our local families. Please remember their hard work and generosity and support local businesses!

ATTENTION! The Downtown Colfax Halloween Walk has been moved to its ORIGINAL SCHEDULE of 6PM-7:30PM in Downtown Colfax! Please spread the word!

After participating business and community feedback about the hour time change, our volunteer board, volunteer Promotion Committee, and staff have decided to keep the original time of the event. We consulted with participating businesses and we believe this is the route that will make most business participants, parents, and visitors happy.

The street lights still may be out by next Tuesday!
--We're encouraging storefronts to keep their lights on to help with ambient light after 7PM.
--We're encouraging visitors to bring flash lights to help see.
--We're encouraging visitors to use caution and avoid blockaded construction areas.
--All children must be accompanied by parents or trusted adults.

We will also be looking for flood lights to use in areas of Downtown which may not have much light.

We apologize for any confusion and thank you for your understanding and flexibility. Our volunteers and staff have tried our best to make decisions based on limited and changing information about the construction progress in our Downtown.

We are currently making sure all participating businesses and organization are contacted with the most recent information.

Last night we hosted our first Ladies Night Out event in Downtown Colfax! It was great to see a lot of local ladies come out and support Downtown Colfax’s local businesses and visiting vendors.

Visitors enjoyed helping our Design Committee paint a community mural at the pocket park, book bedazzling at the library, a flower bar, hat bar, permanent jewelry, fun drinks, shopping, dining, and more!

We’d like to thank all of our great local volunteers on our Promotion Committee for hosting this event, our local businesses for participating, the Colfax Iowa Police Department for helping us set up our vendor space, visiting vendors, and all the attendees who came out to support a revitalized historic Downtown Colfax!

Our first ever Ladies' Night Out is happening today from 3PM-8PM!

At Ladies' Night Out, participating Downtown Colfax businesses will be open for shopping, dining, and more with activities, vendors, or specials catered to ladies! We also will have 20+ vendors in businesses or in the N. Walnut Street open lots. It's a fun day to grab your friends and visit Downtown Colfax! It's also the Back Roads Junk-it Trail weekend which a handful of Downtown Colfax Businesses are participating in.
