NOTICE!

The "Trot through time with old Sam" Historical Walk for today at Noon to 5:00 PM has been cancelled due to weather.

It is rescheduled for next Sunday, September 27 at the same time of Noon to 5:00 PM. With the walks starting from the Coldwater Community Center at 11 E. Chicago St.

Hope to see you all there.

The Branch County Historical Society is pleased to have the opportunity through its President and Historian, Dave McDonald, to aid the C.C.C. @ Beech House. Three overlapping Walking Trails have been laid out for participants to walk and match up photo clues with historic homes and businesses. You have a choice between a 1-mile, 2-mile, and 3-mile walk while finding historic homes that match the photo clues.
Join the fun on Sunday, September 20, starting at Noon from the Coldwater Community Center at the Beech House, next to the 4-Corners Park downtown Coldwater. Also, Branch County Historian, Dave McDonald, will be on-hand at the Beech House assisting with scoring of game sheets and fielding questions on local history.

MISSING MILITARY NAMES ADDED

We wish to recognize the Military Memorial Committee formed in 2013 by B.C.H.S. President, David McDonald, for their efforts in identifying and recognizing three missing names from the WWII Gold Star monument located in Coldwater's 4-Corners Park.

Now added to the monument are the names, Billy Gonser, Francis Bobay, and Mayland Warble. Missed at the time when the monument was dedicated in the park, research by the MMC committee members (Barbara Hefner-Parks in particular) revealed three service members had been overlooked.

They were added onto the monument this week in time for the Monday Memorial Day services.

The historic Governor's Mansion in Marshall is hosting the D.A.R. American 250 Traveling Exhibit. You can see the exhibit from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on February 19 & 20.
It would also give you an excuse to visit the historic building that was built in 1839 for the Michigan Governor at a time when it was believed that Marshall would be the State Capital. Located at 612 South Marshall Street in Marshall. Ample parking is up the driveway and behind the building.
