The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation is proud to announce its newest commitment: supporting the Oncofertility Program at NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center.

A cancer diagnosis changes everything, including hopes for the future. For children, adolescents, and young adults, the window to preserve that future can be narrow. Oncofertility navigation helps keep that window open, connecting patients with fertility-preserving options, equipping them with the information they need to make informed decisions, and surrounding them with the psychosocial support they need during one of life’s most overwhelming moments.

NYU Langone’s program is grounded in established approaches such as egg freezing, embryo banking, and s***m banking, which form the backbone of oncofertility care. Under the leadership of Emeline Aviki, MD, MBA, the program also goes further, offering cutting-edge procedures including ovarian cryopreservation and transplantation, uterine transposition, and testicular tissue banking that are available at only a handful of institutions nationwide. For patients who might otherwise have had no options at all, these advances change everything.

Funding from the Foundation will strengthen and expand the navigation and psychosocial services that make these options accessible, ensuring patients learn about them early enough to act and feel supported through every decision that follows.

With the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation’s support, NYU Langone can reach more patients, earlier, helping to ensure that a cancer diagnosis today does not determine whether a family is possible tomorrow.

We were honored to welcome Danielle Faria and Anna Gevinski from the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory last week. They presented two generous gifts to support our cancer research programs; $150,000 to advance the work of CSHL Associate Professor Lingbo Zhang, and $50,000 in support of CSHL Professor Chris Vakoc. We are deeply grateful to the Foundation for its continued support which drives progress for research, and in turn, patients and their families.

DON MONTI FOUNDATION DONATES $150,000 TO COLD SPRING HARBOR LABORATORY:
Executive Vice Presidents Danielle Faria and Anna Gevinski present Lab President and CEO Dr Bruce Stillman with 2 checks in support of the work of Dr Lingbo Zhang and Dr Chris Vakoc.

Dr Zhang’s research studies include acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).His research has identified several therapeutic targets that have shown promising efficacy in treating these blood cancers in disease models. His research and development contribute to the development of novel therapies that can overcome resistance to existing treatments.

The Vakoc lab has discovered a compelling and novel drug target in acute myeloid leukemia. This new biochemical knowledge has clear implications for drug discovery.

Thanks to your continued support, this contribution continues a 19 year collaboration with the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory bringing our Foundation’s total support of the Lab to $6million.

Since in our inception in 1972, The Don Monti Foundation has raised over $52 million for cancer patient care, research and education here on Long Island.
