Our Story

On July 16 2017, Ben Labonosky IV was slowing to take a left-hand turn on his motorcycle when he was struck from behind by a distracted-driver who had not seen him as evidenced by not applying his brakes until after the collision. Ben was brought to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries on July 18, 2017.

Ben was a beloved father, brother, and uncle -- his family has been devastated by the tragic loss, however have sought to activate their grief by increasing awareness of the dangers of distracted driving to increase safety for all on the road - pedestrians, motorcyclists and drivers alike. Ben’s daughters, with support from countless friends, family and local business support, host an annual memorial-benefit in Ben’s honor and to raise funds to support End Distracted Driving, an organization based in Philadelphia which conducts nation-wide efforts to combat the epidemic of distracted driving and to change the culture of our driving-habits.

Ben’s dear friend Tim was a tremendous supporter of the first annual event and worked diligently along side Ben’s daughters to assist in any way possible to ensure the success of the inaugural event. Tim’s life was unexpectedly cut short in December 2018. Given the close friendship and Tim’s dedication to supporting our cause, we felt it was most appropriate to include his name and legacy in our projects.

We have created this page as an outlet for friends of Ben & Tim to connect, to share memories and photos, to promote information on safe-driving and to keep our friends and family updated on our upcoming events. Thank you for your support!!!
