Bacon Academy Scholarship Fund - BASF The Bacon Academy Scholarship Fund located in Colchester, CT. Dorothy Brown Scholarship, Henrietta Green Scholarship, Carol Chemerynski Scholarship.

Established in 1930, the stated purpose of the organization was to develop a directory of graduates. In 1990 the goal of the association was redirected to raise funds for the purpose of granting financial assistance to students graduating from Bacon Academy. Since 1975 over 131 Bacon Academy graduates have benefited from approximately $38,000. There are four scholarships awarded through the BASF:

Carol Chemerynski, Henrietta Green, Dorothy Brown and Bacon Academy Scholarship Fund. Donations of $10,000 each were gifted to establish memorial scholarships for Dorothy Brown and Henrietta Green. The Brown Award goes to a student pursuing a career in elementary education and the Green award is chosen based on a desire to teach at any grade level. Both women were elementary school teachers in Colchester. Carol Chemerynski, a Colchester native, graduated from Bacon Academy in 1948. She worked in the school system as a paraprofessional until the early 70's when she joined the Bacon Academy staff as the Guidance Secretary where she worked until retiring in 1998. Though Carol was unable to attend college, she felt it was very important to obtain a college degree.The Carol Chemerynski Memorial Scholarship was established by her family to continue helping others through the school that she loved.

🎓🍨 Tonight! Stop by Mel's Downtown Creamery Colchester to support the Bacon Academy Scholarship Fund! 🎓🍨

When I was a Bacon student and saving for college, my first job was as an ice cream scooper. So, tonight, I am picking up the scoop again to help raise money for scholarships that will be awarded to the next generation of graduating Bacon Academy students. From 5PM to close, Mel's will be donating 20% of proceeds to the scholarship fund and I'll be behind the counter with the Mel's team helping to scoop.

It's a great night to have ice cream for dessert -- or for dinner!
