On December 22 last year, Luke “Fluffy” Foster was tragically lost in an automobile accident. Luke’s best friend and cousin, Tanner Icenogle, survived the accident. Luke was a graduate of WIU’s Law Enforcement and Justice Administration program. The Icenogle and Foster families have decided to honor Luke’s memory by initiating Operation Fluffy as a way of giving back to the community. Operation Fluffy is a stuffed animal and blanket drive to provide law enforcement officers and first responders with the capability to have stuffed animals and blankets available to give to children in distress. Car accidents, domestic disturbances, and fires are all stressful events for children and the ability to have a small stuffed animal or a blanket to take their mind off the situation can be immensely helpful. Many officers buy these items out of their own pockets and friends and family would like to help ease their burden. The Fosters and Icenogle’s have partnered with Illinois State Police District 14, McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, and Macomb City Police Department in this effort. We would like to thank the following Businesses for offering to be drop off locations for your donations of new or gently used stuffed animals and blankets, Woodrum Ford Toyota of Macomb, Kunes Country Auto Group of Macomb, Michael’s Hair Designers, Sport Clips, and UCB Bank. Anyone wishing to donate that is not able to make it to one of these locations please feel free to email me, [email protected] and arrangements will be made for a contact free pick up of your donation. For those wishing to make a monetary donation, we have an Operation Fluffy account with UCB Bank in Macomb. We will be following all CDC guidelines in this venture.
