We are a unique institution in being both home to the Thomas County Historical Society and the Kuska Collection. The historical society connection means that part of our mission is to tell the story of this region of the High Plains, from prehistoric times to the present. The Kuska Collection, an extensive and wide-ranging collection of dolls, glass, ceramics, clothing, paintings and much more ass

embled by Nellie Kuska, allows us to tell the story of collecting generally and of the unique aspects of different items in the collection specifically.

Hello!👋🏽

Please enjoy this super cute photo from last week's camp with the US National Weather Service Goodland Kansas ! 😃

The campers had a blast conducting their own experiment and learning all about the basics of weather. 🌦️ Thank You Jesse🙏🏽!

✅There is still plenty of time to sign up your kids (students who have completed 3rd grade through high school) using https://form.jotform.com/261254497926165 for the final two Thursdays in June. We are partnering with the Thomas County Extension/4-H for two more awesome camps to wrap up the season.

🕵🏼‍♂️ Mystery Monday 🕵🏾‍♀️

It’s time for everybody’s favorite game: Guess Who! 👀

The only thing we know about this photo is that it is labeled: "Celebrations. 1960. Diamond Jubilee."

But what celebration was this? Who are the people in the photo? Do you recognize any familiar faces or know what was happening that day?

Share your memories, names, or stories and help us uncover the history behind this photo! 🔍📸😄

🕵🏼‍♂️ Mystery Monday 🕵🏾‍♀️

It’s time for everybody’s favorite game: Guess Who! 👀

This week, the only thing we know about this photo is that Rev. Gunkle is in it somewhere!

But which one is he? 🤔 Who else is in this picture? What year was it taken, and what’s going on here?

Do you recognize any of the people pictured? Have any clues or stories to share?

Help us solve this week’s mystery in the comments! 🔍📸😄

What a day at Prairie Barn Market 2026 🎉

Check out our video to learn more about the market and all that happens during the first weekend of June annually at the Prairie Museum of Art and History!

From unique handmade goods to amazing vendors, great food, and a full day of community connection—this year’s market truly had it all.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to shop, support, and celebrate with us, and to all the incredible vendors who made it happen.

We’re also grateful for our sponsors and partners, including Barnwood and Bling and Colby Convention & Visitors Bureau, for helping with the success of this event.

Already looking forward to the next one 🤍
