Join us for “In Good Taste," an exciting exhibition that explores our complex and meaningful relationship with food through the lens of art. This showcase invites you to delve into the emotional, cultural, and psychological connections we share with what we eat. Food transcends mere sustenance; it shapes memories, influences our identities, and brings us together.

We welcome artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to submit their work in any medium for this unique exhibition. Selection for this exhibition is juried to ensure a cohesive and high-quality collection. We encourage artists to reflect on themes such as:

🎨 Nostalgia: Capture the warmth of cherished memories tied to specific foods or meals.

🎨 Cultural Identity: Celebrate the richness of diverse culinary traditions and personal narratives.

🎨 Emotional Resilience: Illustrate how food provides comfort and connection during both joyful and difficult times.

🎨 Creative Expression: Experiment with food as both a subject and medium, reflecting on its beauty and creativity.

Each artwork submitted will serve as an invitation to viewers to reflect on how food impacts our lives and relationships.

🎨 SIGNS YOU NEED AN ART CRITIQUE 🎨

• You’ve been staring at the same piece for so long that you stop seeing it.
We spend so much time looking at a project that we sometimes lose objectivity. Critiques provide a fresh perspective that can help you see things you’ve become blind to.

• You keep "fixing" tiny details over and over again.
You're so foused on nailing the details that its stopping you from moving forward with the piece. Critiques can help you realize what actually needs improvement vs. what obstacles you're creating for yourself.

• You have a strong concept, but something feels “off.”
Critiques give you a chance to question those experiencing your work, and help bridge the gap between your intention and what viewers are actually experiencing.

• You miss talking to others about art
Great ideas rarely happen in a vacuum. Talking about art with fellow artists can be very inspiring and might even bring you the clarity you didn't realize you needed.

• You want to grow creatively, but feel "stuck".
Constructive feedback can lead to new techniques and ideas you may not have considered otherwise.

• Your passion is starting to feel like a chore.
You've been pushing so hard that sitting down to create fills your body with dread and spikes your cortisol. Sometimes being around other passionate artists is exactly the spark you need to reach the finish line.

🎨 Mark your calendars! Choose Cohoes for Art is hosting our first ever Art Swap! 🎨

Have a piece on the shelf that’s begging for a new home? Looking to refresh your studio, living room, or gallery walls? Come get new stuff for your walls and support local artists at the same time!

Artists and art collectors will have the opportunity to submit original, one-of-a-kind framed pieces of art. All mediums such as painting, collage, photography, or mixed media submissions are accepted, as long as they are no smaller than 4x4” and no bigger than 12x12”. Submissions will be pre-registered for consideration on the CCFA website (link in bio) and artists will be notified of acceptance prior to the event. All selected works will be wrapped and randomly exchanged during a lottery-style mystery draw + group reveal 👀✨

Once the pieces are revealed, there will be time to connect with the artists and trade prints at the “Print Row”. Check out our website for more details!
