Context is an increasingly vital societal asset. It is vital to our humanity, our democracy, and our sanity. Context has always been important to our mission, given the widespread limited understanding of national security. "Girls in national security?!"
To be honest, we have long grappled with who we wish to be on social media, where we know users are inundated with information (or misinformation) that lacks context. The evolution of A.I. will deepen this series of challenges in significant ways.
We have asked ourselves:
Should we add to this ecosystem? It feels contrary to our mission.
Do we have to be present to make people aware of our mission? We're a small shop, probably not.
People sent messages via homing pigeons during WWII. Can we still do that?
Leaving a digital footprint matters, especially for a woman-founded and led organization. Right?
Context matters more today than ever before. We want those interested in learning about the work and participating in our mission to learn about us through the breadth and depth of what we do.
