WIR Community ReGrant Recap! ๐๐๐
In May, 10 women gathered at the Sampson Creek Preserve in Southern Oregon for Beetreat, a one-day retreat combining hands-on beekeeping education, native bee field study, yoga, mindful journaling and farm-to-table food. It was designed for women working with the land as ranchers, farmers, vineyard managers, growers, gardeners and land stewards.
Beetreat was made possible by the Women in Ranching Community ReGrant, which funds workshops and gatherings led by women for the farmers, ranchers and land stewards in their own communities. Like pollinators in motion, the work spreads from rancher to rancher and community to community.
Beetreat organizer Sarah Red-Laird described what success meant to her:
โSuccess meant a bee-shaped container for rest, joy, connection and ease: hands-on bee knowledge delivered through experience rather than only lecture; food and drinks that nourished without performing; spaciousness in the schedule so women could move at their own pace; and a small enough group that everyone could be seen. I was less interested in completing a curriculum than I was in creating the conditions for the right women to find each other and create their own experience inside the day.โ
Giving Tuesday is on the way, bee on the lookout for ways to donate to the WIR Community ReGrant Initiative!
