🌱 Something exciting is growing in Kootenai County!

For the first time since 2024, the Idaho Master Gardener Program in Kootenai County is preparing to welcome a new class of trainees!

Do you love gardening, enjoy learning new things or want to make a difference in your community? Becoming an Idaho Master Gardener is an opportunity to deepen your horticulture knowledge, connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts and share what you learn with others.

Whether you're passionate about vegetables, flowers, trees, houseplants or simply figuring out what's happening in your garden, there's room to grow with us. 🌿

A little fall cleanup, a lot of community spirit! 🍂🌱

A few of our Coeur d’Alene Garden Club members rolled up their sleeves at Canopy Village, helping prepare more than 20 garden beds for winter. From harvesting the last of the goodies to composting and winterizing, there was plenty to dig into—and fun to be had along the way!

We’re proud of our Community Projects Committee volunteers who help these gardens grow and make a difference in our community, one garden bed at a time. 💚

Uh oh!

🍂 The balance of light and darkness arrives today.

On September 22, the September equinox marks the moment when the Sun crosses the celestial equator heading south, bringing the Northern Hemisphere into autumn and the Southern Hemisphere into spring.

Around the equinox, the Sun rises almost due east and sets almost due west, while day and night become nearly equal in length across much of the world.

But the meaning changes depending on which side of the equator you call home. 🌍

For the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the beginning of shorter days and longer nights. For the Southern Hemisphere, it marks the return of longer days and the approach of summer.

One moment in Earth’s orbit — two seasons, unfolding in opposite directions. 🍁🌸
