Eastside Elementary Fourth Graders Showcase National Park Research
Eastside Elementary fourth-grade students recently transformed their school gym into a showcase of America’s National Parks during a special gallery walk event for families and community members.
As part of the project, each student selected a National Park to research. Students created tri-fold presentation boards featuring facts, photographs, and information about the history, geography, wildlife, and unique features of their chosen park.
To bring their research to life, students dressed as National Park Rangers and presented memorized scripts to visitors who stopped at their displays. Throughout the event, students confidently shared what they had learned and answered questions from attendees.
In addition to their research and presentations, students incorporated technology into the project. Using their computer science skills, each student designed a custom sign representing their National Park, which was then produced using a 3D printer.
Parents and community members were invited to attend the gallery walk in the Eastside Elementary gym, where they had the opportunity to visit each display and hear directly from the student presenters. The event drew a strong turnout and highlighted the hard work, creativity, and dedication of Eastside’s fourth-grade students.
School staff noted that the project combined research, public speaking, creativity, and technology, giving students an engaging way to explore and share information about America’s National Parks.
