Remembering our former NASP Patroller: AB Patroller Wyatt Gardner with Gardner's Glory at Antelope Butte.

We hosted a wonderful postseason gathering this past weekend of the family and friends of Wyatt Gardner, our beloved Patroller who passed away last fall, and officially mounted the Gardner’s Glory trail sign. Godspeed to ya, Wyatt! ❤️

We are devastated that this El Niño year has derailed what was shaping up to be a great season. Improvements to the mountain, more trails cleared of deadfall, better access and safety on the upper mountain all had us excited to get up on Sleeping Giant!

Worst of all, we graduated the largest team of new patrollers in over a decade: ready to go help and have fun on the hill. We are so proud of you! *sigh* Just wait 'til next year!

OEC 2023 Class

Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Class
Sept. 12 - November 28 | Every Tuesday evening | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

If you are interested in taking the OEC class to join ski patrol and become qualified to be a paid pro patroller, please contact the OEC Instructor, Patrick Couture by September 1st.

Not gonna lie, today’s weather was unpleasant! But the sun went down and the snow is falling! Tomorrow is looking good!

This week’s employee/volunteer of the week is Orrin Couture. He’s a Junior Patroller with our ski patrol. Orrin has been volunteering with ski patrol as a junior patrol member for three years now, starting when he was 11 years old. This season he has 21 days of volunteering so far. With over 50 total days in his three years of volunteering.

Orrin can always be counted on to help with setting up the hill each morning, patrolling the hill, bringing rescue equipment to patrollers, and performing safety checks at the end of the day.

Orrin grew up skiing here at Sleeping Giant and spent his Fridays skiing up here with Wapiti School. He’s a true Sleepy G fanatic and can’t imagine skiing anywhere else.

Thank you Orrin for all your help and the time you have committed to our hill. If you see Orrin while you’re up skiing, please give him a wave and a thank you for all he does for Sleeping Giant.
