Many of you remember the Mullen Fire tearing through southern Wyoming back in 2020 - 176,800 acres of bighorn country.

The Douglas Creek herd has been navigating a recovering landscape ever since, and now cheatgrass is moving in and threatening to choke out the native forage these sheep depend on.

Wyoming Wild Sheep Foundation pledged $50,000 at this year's Wild Sheep Foundation Chapter & Affiliate Summit toward a $213,500 commitment to fight back. Treatment will cover roughly 12,000 acres through 2028 - including designated wilderness areas.

WY-WSF President Bralli Clifford weighed in on what's at stake for the herd — read her comments: https://www.theoutdoorwire.com/releases/2026/06/wsf-chapters-unite-to-combat-cheatgrass-threat-in-wyoming-bighorn-sheep-range/

💥THIS WEDNESDAY💥

The Seminoe Pumped Storage Project threatens the entire North Platte system, the fishing, hunting, wildlife, public access, and wild country that make this place worth protecting.

On May 27, Friends of the North Platte and partners are hosting a pint night at Bull Horn Brewery in Casper to share information about the proposed project and its potential impacts on the Seminoe area and the North Platte River downstream.

Come learn the facts, hear from experts, ask questions, and decide for yourself what’s at stake. No commitment required —just show up.

📍May 27 | 6:00 PM (Comments begin at 6:20 PM)
Bull Horn Brewery

For those interested in making their voice heard, the Wyoming Legislature’s Travel, Recreation, and Wildlife Committee will hear public testimony on the project the following morning, and we can help you prepare.
