Chiera Golf and Tennis Classic is a non-profit organization which was established in memory of our father Nicholas R. All of the proceeds from this event, for the past 19 years have given to the American Cancer Society’s R.O.C.K. related programs such as family weekend and the R.O.C.K. scholarship program. Starting with our 2013 event, which is our 20th Anniversary, we will continue to raise money to send kids to camp that are battling Cancer. We will be supporting Camp Boggy Creek Camp and their cancer week 2014. As a result of being grandfathered in ten years ago, the American Cancer Society mandates that all of our fundraising go directly to help children with cancer attend a special camp just north of Orlando, Florida. Over the past ten years this event has netted over one million dollars to R.O.C.K. camp. In addition to sending over two hundred kids with Cancer to camp each summer, our charity will now support other R.O.C.K. programs such as R.O.C.K. family weekends. These weekends allow families of children battling cancer an opportunity to go to Disney World for a weekend of workshops and fun at the Disney Parks. These workshops help parents and families discuss their child’s illness out in the open with other cancer patient’s families and heath care professionals. Finally, it is also our pleasure to announce the establishment of the American Cancer Society/Nicholas R. Chiera Scholarship fund which will allow a child who has beaten cancer and who attended R.O.C.K. camp an opportunity to pursue their dreams and attend college. He taught us many things in life, but most importantly, he always led by example in helping those less fortunate. Whether it was starting a recreation program for the handicapped or a state of the art Senior Citizen Center, he always worked feverishly to make sure everyone had an opportunity to exercise, or have companionship and enjoy recreational activities. We could not have found a more perfect fit in having his memory live on in the hearts of all of the children battling cancer who attend R.O.C.K.

The Chiera Family Foundation recently completed it’s NICK’s GOLF and NICK’s Ice Skating lessons for Kids who are Battling Cancer.

Children who are undergoing treatments are able to enjoy free golf and skating lessons . This allows them to just have fun and give them a break from Doctors and hospital visits. The Golf Program took place at Top Golf in Pompano with instruction provided by the First Tee of Broward. Special thanks to Top Golf for hosting our kids and donating the bays and breakfast! NICK’s Ice Skating was made possible through a grant from the Florida Panthers Foundation. Held at the Ice Den in Coral Springs, kids were able to skate with their siblings, friends and parents with instruction given by world class professional figure skaters. The Ice Skating sessions were followed up with a pizza and wing party.
