Survivorship Month đź’—

And survivorship is more than finishing treatment.

For many women, the effects of cancer treatment continue long after appointments slow down and the world expects them to “move on.” Fatigue. Chemo brain. Neuropathy. Lymphedema. Early menopause. Hair loss. These are real parts of survivorship, and they deserve real support.

This month, we honor every woman navigating what comes after diagnosis and treatment, including the parts no one else can see.

You are not “too sensitive.” You are not “complaining.” And you do not have to carry it alone. 💗

There is a version of you that existed before the diagnosis.

And there is the version of you that exists now.

Some women grieve the “before” version. And that grief is real. There are parts of life before cancer, a different relationship with your body, a calendar not built around appointments and scans, a sense of certainty you are allowed to miss.

But the version of you that came through this carries something powerful too.

She is more aware of what matters. More honest about what she needs. More present in the moments that count.

She did not erase who you were. She became something more. đź’—

This Survivorship Month, we honor both versions. And we celebrate the woman you became.

Scanxiety is real and more common than people realize.

The fear before scans. The waiting. The silence between appointments and results.

For many survivors, follow-up testing can bring waves of anxiety long after treatment ends. And even years later, that fear can still feel overwhelming.

You are not being dramatic. You are not weak. You are responding to something deeply human after everything you’ve been through.

A few things that may help:
• Name it: “This is scanxiety.”
• Limit symptom searching before results
• Make a plan for the waiting period
• Reach out for mental health support if the anxiety feels heavy to carry alone

You deserve peace during recovery too. đź’—

No one should have to navigate cancer, survivorship, or hereditary cancer risk alone. đź’—

At BRCAStrong, we’ve seen firsthand how community can change a journey.

Support matters.
Connection matters.
Feeling seen matters.

If you’ve been quietly following along, this is your invitation to say hello.

Tell us your name, where you're from, and one word that describes your journey.

We’ll start: BRCAStrong. Miami. Sisterhood. 🦋

There are more than 18 million cancer survivors living in the United States today.

18 million people who woke up this morning carrying what cancer left behind: the scars, the follow-up appointments, the fear that sometimes arrives without warning, and the gratitude that does too.

More people are surviving cancer than ever before. And that is something worth celebrating.

But survival is not the same as thriving. And at BRCAStrong, we believe every survivor, every previvor, every woman in this sisterhood deserves both.

Not just to survive. To thrive. đź’—

This Survivorship Month, that is what we’re fighting for.

Survivorship is not a finish line. It’s a way of living.

The moment you received a diagnosis, or a positive genetic result, your life changed forever. Not when treatment ended. Not when the scans came back clear. Right then.

And everything you have done since that moment, every appointment kept, every hard conversation started, every morning you showed up for yourself, is part of survivorship.

Not the polished version. The real one.

This Survivorship Month, we’re honoring every survivor, every previvor, and every woman learning how to carry both fear and strength at the same time. 💗

Life after treatment ends. And then what?

Survivorship care was created to help answer that question.

A survivorship care plan is a personalized guide created by your medical team after treatment. It can include follow-up screenings, long-term side effects to watch for, mental health support, wellness guidance, and what steps come next.

But many survivors finish treatment without ever receiving one. They leave treatment carrying unanswered questions about what happens now.

You deserve more than a finish line.
You deserve a roadmap. đź’—

If your care team has not discussed a survivorship care plan with you, it is okay to ask. Your long-term care matters too.
