On Sept. 27, the St. Vincent de Paul’s Outreach Center at Cocoa Beach’s Church of Our Saviour will host a "Friends of the Poor" 5k run/walk.

St. Vincent de Paul’s Outreach Center and Food Pantry at Cocoa Beach’s Church of Our Saviour will host a "Friends of the Poor" 5k walk/run to raise funds for the many services the center provides to the needy in the Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral community.

The race begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, from the church’s parking lot. The course winds through Banana River Drive and nearby residential neighborhoods before ending backat the church. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Refreshments will be served post-race. After the 5K event, a free Kids’ Dash will be held.

The event includes a raffle basket extravaganza of more than 40 baskets each worth at least $100 of goodies such as hotel stays, tours, dining and retail gift cards, spa visits and more.
