LABOR DAY IS COMING. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!

Labor Day weekend is almost here, and for many families it means one last big beach weekend of the summer. Drown Zero wants everyone to have a great time and most importantly, make it home safely.

Before heading into the water:

Know where the nearest flotation device is
Check beach and ocean conditions and know how to escape a rip current
Keep a dedicated Water Watcher on children
Swim near a lifeguard whenever possible
If you hear thunder, get out of the water and seek shelter

And if you see someone struggling in the water, remember:

THROW, DON’T GO.

And be sure to catch our Labor Day Beach Safety Report this Friday at 3 PM on WA1A 107.1 FM with Mike Tyler. We’ll have some important reminders to help you and your family stay safe over the holiday weekend.

Labor Day Weekend Beach Safety Reminder from Drown Zero

Labor Day is one of the last big beach weekends of summer, so before you head out, remember: Know Before You Go.

Check the weather, surf conditions, and beach warning flags
Always swim in front of a lifeguard
Assign a dedicated Water Watcher
Wear sunscreen and stay hydrated
Respect rip currents and know your limits
If someone is in trouble: Throw, Don’t Go call 911, alert a lifeguard, and use flotation
And watch those afternoon storms when thunder roars, go indoors

Meet the newest member of the Drown Zero family DEEZEE 250!

Built by ASAY Boats LLC to commemorate America’s 250th Birthday, this beautiful traditional surf boat recently completed our Rowing for Rings Expedition and has now been generously gifted to Drown Zero by The Oar House LLC / ASAY Boats LLC and owner Chris Denn.

We cannot thank Chris enough for his incredible support of Drown Zero and his dedication to preserving the legacy of these historic surf rescue boats.

DEEZEE 250 is modeled after the traditional rescue craft used by the brave Surfmen of the United States Life-Saving Service. Long before modern rescue equipment, these crews launched through pounding surf to save the lives of mariners from ships driven ashore along our coastlines.

Now, we invite YOU to experience this piece of living history.

Whether you’re a rower, lifeguard, history enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique challenge, come row with us and discover firsthand what the original Surfmen endured during rescues in the 1800s.

Post Rowing for Rings Shout Out!

Another reason the Rowing for Rings crew made it through the expedition without suffering sunburn was the incredible support of Drown Zero ambassador Beatrice Fogle and her all-natural Drown Zero sunscreen.
