Our offices will be closed on Friday, June 19th for Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a national holiday to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. It was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. Opal Lee, a Texas educator and also known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” led a decades-long campaign to make Juneteenth a national holiday.
