Long-running Confederate memorabilia shop Wildman’s Civil War Surplus in Kennesaw has abruptly shut down amid a legal fight over the late owner’s estate — closing a chapter on one of the area’s most debated storefronts. 

The shop, open since 1971 and known for its controversial displays, was tied up in court after the owner passed away in 2022, leading to an estate dispute and a judge-ordered audit that forced its doors to close.

Pushing for a seat at the table can make “progressive” white leaders uncomfortable. Accountability matters.

Some white people call themselves anti-racist—but inclusion gets ignored, boundaries get pushed, and BIPOC members are silenced.

In Cobb County, White (Non-Hispanic) people are less than half the population. If an organization has only white leaders and only replaces them with more white people, that’s a problem. Diversity and inclusion takes work and it’s worth the investment.

What’s the goal with these posts? (1) End immediate harassment and (2) out racism and demand accountability so people of color feel empowered to be activists within their own communities.

The future of Wildman’s Civil War Surplus store has long been a topic of debate in the increasingly diverse Atlanta suburb, especially since proprietor Dent Myers' death nearly four years ago at age 90.

We sent her to fight for Marietta. abstained 22 times. GA House District 37 deserves better.

Mary Frances Williams sat out votes on:
• Child and dependent tax credits
• Foster care and justice involved youth
• Healthcare prior authorization reform
• Education employee benefits
• Worker and officer protections
• Guardianship rights for disabled adults

She even abstained on a racist, anti Chinese bill instead of taking a stand against it.

Abstaining is a choice. And she chose not to fight for us. Many constituents also say they cannot get a response from her office.

No meetings. No replies. No accountability. Do not take our word for it. Try emailing her yourself.

Marietta needs a Democrat who will show up. Who will listen. Who will vote.
